I am almost totally rebuilding a Ford F150 four wheel drive pickup that I bought recently. The engines bottom end was knocking so I had to get a replacement. I went from a 351 to a 302 for better gas mileage and I will still have plenty of power to pull my camper. The transfer case would not shift into 4 low so I had to rebuild it too.
I stripped the inside of the cab top and bottom. I am going to put in a dragon cloth ceiling and a thick black commercial standing pad like you see at the counter of auto part stores "etc" on the floor to give me good sound deadening. I picked up a pair of captains seats in really good condition to replace the bench seat. ;D I am going to have to figure out how to build a center console so there is a place for my grand kids to sit. Anyone out there that can build center consoles? My son could probably do it if I could get him up off the couch.
I am going to use a lot of aluminum checker plate (aluminum plate with long narrow bumps in a crisscross pattern) inside and out. So far I have fender flairs, side rails, tool box and instrument cluster that are made with checker plate.
I bought a used propane fuel system with a 100 gallon tank so I can run the engine on either gas or propane. $100 and all I had to do was pull it off of another pickup. Saved me about $700 and all I have to do now is clean it up. With that large of a propane tank I can get a propane generator for my camper and never run out of power for my small rock working machine and air conditioner. ;D ;D ;D
Paint. I have an idea for the paint job which will be all one color but I have not decided exactly what color. I am thinking about having a contest here to guess the color. I will have to figure that out later.
I guess the photos are self explanatory. I hope you like my project. It has turned out to be much more than I had planned but I have wanted to do this for a long time. Thanks for looking
Jim

UPDATE
The door panels were extremely deteriorated from the sun and I decided to repair them instead of trying to find better ones. The first photos show how deep the deterioration went. At least 1/16 in some areas. There was a huge amount of dust from the sanding but since I sanded it all by hand there was not a lot of dust flying around.
The plastic paint worked super but it was dull so I put three coats of clear to get a shine. Except for the very top of the panel I am totally happy with the outcome.
The headliner was trash so I replaced the cloth with my favorite images. Everyone that has seen my carvings could guess what the cloth would be like. This was my first headliner replacement and if you could look close you could tell but all in all it turned out pretty good.
I noticed that the foam pads in front of the counter at the parts store where the customers stand was diamond plate and I freaked out. Literately freaked out. I am sure the other customers thought I was crazy but it was the perfect flooring for the pickup. I am a frequent customer $$$ so the manager ordered a piece for me and got them to cut eleven feet even though they only cut ten foot lengths. I think it was well worth the $110 to have a sound deadening floor that is super tough and waterproof.
I am pretty happy with the interior so far. There are a couple of spots that I still have to deal with but it is looking pretty good.
At the moment I am trying to find the parts for the transfer case. The owner of the mechanic shop where I took it to be repaired told me that there are no parts available for that transfer case and I would have to find a different one. Back I went to the parts house to see what they could find. I got a call back from them telling me that they think they have found the parts but I need to go there to see if it is the correct parts. If it is correct they can have them here the next day. WooHoo!!!!! But then I will have to disassemble the case myself and get it all back together correctly. I guess if I can change out the engine I should be able to do it even though it is a bit intimidating. But it probably will not do to my hands what changing the engine did to them. The old skin ain't what she used to be.
I have some good mechanics gloves but I would not remember to put them on until I was dinged. I didn't bleed to death so they will probably heal up eventually. If you think that working rocks is tough on your fingernails you should try swapping out an engine. ALL of mine are ripped to shreds so I need to get back to working rocks so they will grow back. ;D
Paint is next but when?
Thanks for looking and I hope you like my choices.
