I enjoyed your method for presenting the art for trade/sale. Not being a computer person did make it difficult for me to locate the correct place to click the other rock material for sale. As a new participant I believe that older and well established members want a period that is followed by honesty when trading/ selling to members. My instinct says this leadership group tries to protect it's members from others just trying to use it to sell material by requiring a method to weed out the undesirables.

Everyone needs to stop spouting off and abusing new members about something that doesn't exist. It's not a prerequisite for anything because it doesn't exist. Stop trying to protect RTH members with a unwritten rule that doesn't exist - we are all adults who can take care of ourselves. Buyer/clicker beware... This stupid subject is causing more harm to the board than the occasional scammer or spammer. |

How I do business....if I am unsure of a vendor I make a small purchase first and I see how that goes. Then if it goes sour....well, whoop-dee-ding. I was bullied off here 3 to 4 years ago (though I fought back) but I had health problems and didn't feel like engaging in arguments. Now I have returned. No, I won't quit but some remarks on here make me mad. Then I remind myself, it's just words on a computer screen. It's like getting mad at bots in a chatroom. It's not real. Answering back is a waste of good energy.

100 posts rule....Unwritten yes ...it has been around for as long as I can remember....it is something that as a new person , they will not know.. maybe there can be a post etiquette link they can be directed to so they can know... that being said..suspicion rears its head if you just want to sell from go.. , there are those who look out for the collective group...sometimes it may come off as brash but they have good intentions ..could it sometimes be expressed differently ..sure...There are some who dont like it ..it is ok not to if thats how you feel...but remember that is how they feel..I respect each and every one of the members on here..sometimes I may disagree but I still respect them..Peace out.....John

I was going to drop this subject but I have one more observation. Selling is sometimes how people get acquainted. They offer something for sale, people ask questions, a conversation starts. I was really turned off a few years ago when somebody made a remark about just being on here to sell. I even tried to comply with the 100 posts I see I made 13 nonsensical posts before I lost interest. I was in pain, the rock business was faltering, I had been in it a long time and I always bent over backwards to give people a good deal. If people feel good making caustic remarks, not knowing the circumstances of who is on the receiving end....that's up to them, I guess. Hard to have respect for an individual whose words make a sick feeling come over you. That's my last word on this thread But I hang in there if I can.

No hard feelings intended Victor - I'm sorry for jumping on you. I just wish the talk of this "rule" would stop because it just creates more problems than it fixes. It has gotten embarrassing. We are all adults we can smell a rat when a rat exists I think. I feel like I personally have to jump in and protect every new member who posts something for sale before they get blasted. I hope this is the last time we all do this. |

Members shouldn't have to be worried about what happens when they click on a link. Anybody can buy from anybody at any time, but I don't understand why it's allowed for new posters to post links instead of photos. It is not safe. Members who continue to click on links from unknown parties will eventually pay a high price, and maybe that's the only way some people learn, but I don't understand why people wouldn't want to create a safer atmosphere for everyone.
