I have a small rock shop and at one time due to a cash flow problem, I painted some birthstone pictures to brighten up the premises. I also used these paintings in videos for advertising purposes. They have served their purpose and now I'd like to find a new home for them. I am willing to trade for just about anything in the rock, mineral, fossil, crystal, artifact line and I'm not greedy or fussy. My style doesn't appeal to everyone. It is primitive and cartoonish. Nevertheless, I have sold one painting to an employee of the Guggenheim, several to the Nordic Cultural Institute of Seoul, Korea and to private individuals. Some people have stopped in at my shop because they wanted to meet the person behind the avatar.

I'm going to help out before you get miserably shot down.there is an unwritten rule that you must have at least 100 posts on this forum before trying to trade or sell items.sometimes this is overlooked if your goods are very desirable.sorry, and I'm not trying to be Forum police either, before someone jumps down my throat 2 feet first Dave

Wtf did I just watch? Is it just one of the digital images shown or something tangible? I skipped through and didn't watch the whole thing.

As far as I'm concerned if a rule is unwritten, it doesn't exist. I got into this same discussion about 100 posts a few years ago and didn't come back until today because I had forgotten how unpleasant it was. Forget it. Last time I was told that the background color on my website hurt peoples' eyes. This forum is unreal. And I am trading, not selling, though i doubt either will happen. I guess nobody on here is from Minnesota. We practice Minnesota Nice....ever heard of it?

Hi ojhoff Olivia - this cube is gorgeous - do you do still have it available for sale? Is that a fracture running diagonal from bottom left to top right?

Good manners and common sense dictate that a seller allow her clientele to get to know her. If you took the time to post about your self, your store, your rocks and whatever else suits you, then you will learn this place is populated by a lot of super nice folks. And, for the right seller with the right stones, there is significant money spent by folks who use this little ole corner of the internet. Anyway, i think you are a quirky and unique woman. I enjoy your style. Teach us more about you. Then make some money.

Was going to say that some people on here remind me of characters from Alice Through The Looking Glass.... Not sure if I have that striped rock but I'll look.

Got through about 15 seconds of the video and didn't see anything for trade. But then I'm a bit impatient...

I tend not to be the first to jump in unless it is a great deal - then if I lose, I'm not out much. Oh yes, and is Minnesota Nice always dripping with sarcasm??

Personally, I found the presentation very unique and interesting. The paintings are quite good examples of what you might call pop folk. I'm all for the colors, but folk isn't quite my favored style. We're a nice group of people. It becomes more evident the longer you are here.

I haven't found the rock yet, Minnesota Nice is sometimes Minnesota passive aggressive, the video was made in the virtual world Second Life which is built by its users.

I saw a few other pieces I might be interested in buying even though I know that wasn't your point in stopping by here and subjecting yourself to our grace and charm Are you actively working the online sales and updating inventory or has it fallen into obsolescence?

I wish people here would knock it off with the attack first, get to know them later routine. It's BS in my opinion. CLEARLY this person was not here to scam anyone - she posted her link to an actual physical rock shop with location and phone number and full name etc. Some of the comments that get posted here are nothing more than mean spirited trolling - like it's OK to treat people badly.

I try to keep up the site but a few things got in my way....kidney stone, sore knee, the fact that my shop is unheated, in a snowbank, and inaccessible to me several months out of the year. and I have to send somebody out to look for things....a somebody who says my inventory management leaves a lot to be desired. I was told my website is not device friendly so I'm setting up another, not exactly a mirror site but a complement. I was also told to use a tripod and take better pictures. I have a lot of the items on the site, or reasonable facsimiles.

I think most of the pictures are OK - some are pretty blurry. Maybe if you showed several angles of each rock - front/back or wet/dry - that wouldn't hurt. I think the colors on some of the pieces of lace that you are showing dry would really pop if shown wet.

There is no rule on the forum that you have to have100 posts because Mark wont post rules for the forum so the rest of you have no right making one up

Watched about 30 seconds of the vid and it just bothered me. I have the "off" button and used it. This is a very friendly forum and if you take the time to 'fit in' you might find that out. Jumping in to sell or trade is rude. Maybe that's just Minnesota rude. We have rude in Georgia too but they are usually politicians. Attitude!

The GUIDELINES for trades in this section are about using judgement when deciding to do business with someone posting here. The rest of the etiquette or "100 posts" is make-believe - it doesn't exist outside of your minds.

Am I missing where the rocks for trade are shown? I quickly skimmed through the video (with the sound off) and only saw images of some paintings - no rocks.
