So, I had a crazy idea while i was at the landscaping supply when i saw a boulder with a quartz vein showing in the side. This is a 189 lb piece of North American Pink granite. I decided to try to make a sphere from it by hand with an angle grinder and a diamond cup wheel..Pics to follow..

Thanks guys..it is more of a personal challenge than anything, but im sure someone would like to have it.. its going to weigh almost 90 (estimated) pounds when its done. Polishing it without a sphere machine will be quite a challenge. I have the tools, lets see if I have the patience..lol

Having the eye for that is what impresses me. It looks very close to spherical. Are you going to finish the bottom?

Pyramids are easier. You will have a lifetime treasure. Impressive. Yes-thekingofrock.
Looks like our Georgia pink granite. Georgia a world force in quarrying it. See images, 'Elberton Georgia granite'
I understand you are using a respirator, are you grinding dry ?
Diamond cups for roughing ? 4"-7"-9" ? Nevermind, I see your diamond cup in the photo.
