If you would just quit wasting all that time sleeping every night, it would be done!

Dang.. those look agressive.. i usually dont use any pads more coarse than 50 grit. When i fabricate, i start with 50 on a routed edge and 100 grit on a saw cut edge. I use turbo pads up to 800 on bullnose and up to 1500 on flat polished edges and then flexible pads for 3000 and final buff. I spend a lot of money on abrasives..a whole set of the system i have developed costs nearly $300. My system creates a finished product that is as close as you can get without an automatic edge machine.

Never seen those turbo pads. They are almost solid faced. 50-100-200-400-800-1500-3000-10,000 = 8 steps ?

They skip over the soft parts of the stone rather than conforming and mining them out like flexible pads do. After 3,000 i go to a final buff pad. My weapon of choice is the Alpha buff. They are really expensive, but priceless in performance. www.alpha-tools.com/Product.aspx?PageCode=690

I have spent my entire career trying to find abrasives that balance price and performance. Every now and then, something new comes along and it improves the quality and reduces cost as well as increasing productivity. These are the only changes i make to my process. Always strive for improvement. If you set your mark high, you will achieve better results even if you miss your mark.

The sphere project is telling enough. Hat's off to ya. Thanks jamesp..i am itching to get back on it...ha! (On the ball)..fortunately, the pause has also given me some time to think about its fate. I have a huge fountain at my shop that i have been working on in my down time and i think it will make a great base to put the floating sphere into. I will take some pics and post them soon..

That one is too nice to be floating sphere IMO. Polished to a liquid shine ? I would have to display it dry as a specimen.
