I know , what does this have to do with this thread ? And I know I may not represent the norm but I would stop at the less busy restaurant . Just thinking on my keypad , sorry . A higher number of cars in the parking lot may be an indication of better service and food inside. A long line to get inside a movie may indicate a better movie inside than at the theater with a short or no line. A higher membership number may be an indication of a more interesting forum. People, in general, tend to go to the place with the better reviews. Just trying to use simple correlations. Higher membership may have a value. Again, what is the downside? I know what you were getting at , I wouldn't join a forum that only had a couple members either . Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers .

I currently am a member of a rock forum which only has 94 members. We are doing just fine, and gain new members almost every week. I won't mention the name of that new forum because I don't want to attract members whom I find less than friendly to that forum. I was invited to join that new forum by an RTH member who has since been inactive here. That has been a year & a half ago. We're a friendly group over there. Sure, we sometimes disagree with someone. We discuss our disagreements without the back biting seen here.

I was just trying to lighten the mood in here a bit! I edited my post to add a little extra humor.

chill out there just throwing ideas around no harm no foul So if someone wants to buy your house, there is no harm in their burning down the garage to lower the value before putting in an offer? Point being, it is not theirs to burn down. BOB YOU ARE OUT OF LINE!

What's in a domain? What advantage does .com offer over say .net? If it's to drive traffic, what's to stop someone from setting up a website using www.rocktumblinghobby.club for example, filling it with the right SEO key words for google web crawlers to use for search results and then redirecting the traffic to forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/? it's not like the forum is privately hosted on Mark's own internet servers. Regarding admin control of the board, Mark should turn over the keys to the membership regardless, and we decide who becomes admin. There would be no forum, no content to drive traffic to his site, without us. That would assume that Mark would turn over the keys. He isn't. He is giving the keys with the purchase of the domain. BBBBut 't MMMMark Still mentally have the KEYS?

Don’t wanna purge too much board history . . . be a pity if the gran’spawn could never stumble across the ravings of Grandpa Teabag back in the day.

So this entire discussion may be without merit.

So this entire discussion may be without merit. Technically, Mark is selling the domain and as a gift he is giving over the admin keys to face book and RTH. So, it's not a sale. He could even say he is sharing the proboards and be able to do it.

rockjunquie It looks to me like buying a pig in a poke. it is all contingent on what the SUPER OWNER decides.

BOB YOU ARE OUT OF LINE! I'm inclined to disagree. Just stating that I believe it is wrong to advocate actions intended to devalue someone else's property. Is malicious intent the term I was looking for? Feel free to consider that out of line if you wish, but that won't make my point any less valid.

I did no such thing and you darn well know it. My example to Roy was an analogy, nothing more. On top of that, I don't believe that "the rest of us" support harming Mark's forum with the aim of lowering it's value. I do appreciate the good laugh, and for that I thank you.

Oh I forgot, don't delete people. I belong to a antique GM diesel pickup truck forum. I only show up there every few years but when I do my stuff is still there and I can post etc. If someone is deleted here then their post count disappears....They can't sell without 50 posts. They don't get to continue their post number awards. Worse they don't feel loved!!! Look how many times someone comes on here and says "Life got busy and I haven't been here for a long time but I dusted the tumblers off and want to start again".
Let em work, let em live!!!

This thread is a bit side tracked with this discussion, but I agree. Deleting inactive members is a dick move. It does nothing to improve the forum and does a lot to hurt it and piss people off. Don't do it.

Please excuse my exuberance over the issue of harming someone else's property, but I feel strongly about that. And, I'm certainly not one to idly stand by when accused of disparaging the other members of this forum en masse. That's just me. This thread is a bit side tracked with this discussion, but I agree. Deleting inactive members is a dick move. It does nothing to improve the forum and does a lot to hurt it and piss people off. Don't do it. Pretty much what I've been trying to express, but in a much more concise manner.
