Oh I forgot, don't delete people. I belong to a antique GM diesel pickup truck forum. I only show up there every few years but when I do my stuff is still there and I can post etc. If someone is deleted here then their post count disappears....They can't sell without 50 posts. They don't get to continue their post number awards. Worse they don't feel loved!!! Look how many times someone comes on here and says "Life got busy and I haven't been here for a long time but I dusted the tumblers off and want to start again". Let em work, let em live!!! This thread is a bit side tracked with this discussion, but I agree. Deleting inactive members is a dick move. It does nothing to improve the forum and does a lot to hurt it and piss people off. Don't do it. If people had bothered to read my original post on deleting people, Those same people would have seen that I was speaking of people who joined 10 to 13 years ago and have either not posted a single thing, or hadn't even logged in since joining. Those are the deadbeats I was speaking of. Certain others have taken it upon themselves to blow my original statement completely out of proportion.

Everyone take a deep breath - make a circle with your thumbs and index fingers and repeat after me ... ohhhhhmmm... [/b] [li]The dice have been rolled and things are in motion. I have agreed to a dollar figure with Mark - higher than what I wanted to take to the people but it is what it is and I think we can do it.[/li] [li]Our fund raising is secure - Mark will not entertain other offers or sell it out from under us. If the deadline comes and we didn't make it he will resume marketing for sale.[/li] [li]We are discussing the time frame for us to reach the goal - I have proposed March 30th to Mark - feedback is welcome.[/li] [li]The crowd-funding campaign has been created. I need till tomorrow to drop have dropped in the first installation of my contribution to get it rolling.[/li] [li]Due to the higher than expected cost I want to set it up as myself as the managing general partner and all contributors retaining a vested interest equal to the percentage they contributed towards the total - sorry Captain you have to stop hating on Santa Claus[/li] [li]The plan is to preserve the community and never sell it but I think a little ownership will go a long way to loosen the purse strings[/li] [li]I am working on the "Save RTH" thread - hope to post it tomorrow have posted it.[/li] [li]Yes intend to put in a very healthy contribution or "seed money" as the captain calls it. This will be done in stages because money is very tight for us at the moment - haven't posted any new inventory in over six weeks and on Etsy sales die as fast as they rise.[/li] [li]Deleting inactive members is generally frowned upon in the forum world - rife with problems.[/li] [li]The board IS owned by Proboards but there is an escape clause apparently - pay a fee to get your database. I need to do serious homework on this - at some point if Proboards is not manageable we may want to go nuclear and convert to phpBB. [/li] [li]Getting and moving the database is low priority - I need a period of calm to learn about what Proboards has to offer[/li] [li]Once the domain is on my host Mark has offered to help us with the photo uploading feature as a "thank you"[/li] [/ul]

(bold emphasis mine) If people had bothered to read my original post on deleting people, Those same people would have seen that I was speaking of people who joined 10 to 13 years ago and have either not posted a single thing, or hadn't even logged in since joining. Those are the deadbeats I was speaking of. Certain others have taken it upon themselves to blow my original statement completely out of proportion.Don, your original statement s which I objected to - Just a thought. -- If we can get the Mods to cooperate, why not purge the members list of the deadbeats ? Those who signed up years ago, and have never contributed or posted a single thing. Start with the earliest members & start working up the list towards the more recent ? Drop a couple thousand deadbeat members & the forums value should drop. Might be worth thinking about. The Mods are all contributing members of RTH with long standing membership first, who I believe volunteered to be Mods. Mark could certainly take away their Mod tools, but if this were done quickly enough the damage would be done. Much of RTH's value is based on the number of members. A few years back the suggestion was made to remove deadbeat members. I believe it was mark who vetoed the idea. was to delete "deadbeat members" without Mark's approval with the purpose of devaluing the forum. I have blown nothing out proportion nor taken anything out of context. I do not appreciate being made out as some sort of villain here.

That's OK Bob. You can have this thread all to yourself, since your opinions seem to be the only valid ones. I'm finished posting here.

Yeah, I knew about Paypal. That sucks. I routinely make donations to local drives. I would love it if they took paypal though.
I'm so excited!!

I have blown nothing out proportion nor taken anything out of context. I do not appreciate being made out as some sort of villain here. Perhaps we all (including me) need to wait a day or so before responding to emotional topics.

Thank you sir! I was able to take what you sent me on Paypal and upload it into the GoFundMe campaign. If anyone else is having trouble - to the point where you can't participate without using Paypal - PM me and we can work it out like this.

Please excuse my ignorance.
Where exactly is this crowdfunging campaign?
Seems the grand poobah should give us a link? No?
