jamesp - I have a blog that has been good for me for quite a few years. It drives a lot of traffic to my etsy shop. I am thinking of leaving it up, but starting a new and improved blog linked with my site and geared more toward business/selling. The old blog was more geared towards teaching- which is what I used to do. I'll have much more control over the new blog. I can even have Disqus comments on it.
I think you should have a keyword rich blog, James, you are a natural story teller with lots of photo potential. You can tell all kinds of stories about how and where you do what you do. Think of all the great posts you've had here. Similarly, they could be on your blog working to sell.
RTH puts up with my Shenanigans, not sure about a public blog.
I have proprietary methods like you. I hate to tell someone my tooling is secret. Guessing they would ask. and I would have to offend them.
Probably my first serious complaint Tela, grrrrrrrrr. But laughing too. If it continues I will send them a new cover. Takes my blog mood away.
Hi. Can you please tell me when do you think you can ship this order?
Thanks much
Ilia

Message: Hi Jim. We just received the fire pit. Great product, fast shipment! Yeah!!! One question - how can i take off scotch tape from the lid? I tried for a couple of minutes and understood it will take me a day:) Any suggestions? Thanks

Message: Mineral Spirits is about as good as it gets Ilia. The tape is about a necessary because I can't figure a better way.

Message: Hi. I have to say.... it was a job and a half to clean tape from a base. I spent close to two hours on my knees. Lid is still not finished. Don't know what to say.... There's got to be a better way to pack. Maybe put paper underneath the tape? Nobody else complained?

Message: I think one complaint Ilia.
I must research
1) packing paper underneath
2) better solvent
3) try shrink wrap. the shrink wrap may do the job
So sorry to hear. I use powerful electric wire brushes that remove paint glue and rust. I have obviously underestimated the difficulty of removal with conventional methods.
Thanks for your feedback.

Message: Hi Jim. This is insane. I went to the store and got a wire brush. Used electric drill and no results:(. Nothing i try is working. Did not think a have to spend money and more importantly time to make this lid look decent. Will try to attach a video .

Message: Oh no. Sorry to hear you are having problems Ilia.
I want to say that the pit and cover will rust. Rust is their standard patina.
The rust will undermine all paint, glue and labels. It just takes a bit of time.
Keep me informed.
Thanks
Jim

Message: We are using pit and cover as coffee table as well as fire pit. As fire pit we have no problem. But if we want to use it as table - it looks horrible! How long do i have to wait for it to take care of it self?

Message: "The surface will ripen to a beautiful natural rust patina."
Time depends on rain snow and humidity. It will rust.
That is a gaurentee.

Message: How will it rust under the scotch tape?

Message: Here is about half of my bowl inventory Ilia.
You can see some black bowls fresh from the factory about middle way.
The rest of those bowls were mostly purchased this year.
They all had paint and labels stuck to them. And covered in black graphite.
The rust has undermined it all.
The fresh black bowls are coated with very nasty graphite lubricant.
The rust undermines the graphite 2 weeks. One to three months to undermine the oil base white paint marks and stenciling from the factory.
Oil base paint is the slowest of all chemicals for the rust to remove.
Please be patient and let the rust do it's job. You can wet the metal to speed the rust process. Dew and rain will do it on it's own.

Message: You are missing 2 points. It is not going to rust under scotch tape and paying $500 should come with product that looks good. I'm ok to wait for it to become rusty. I'm not ok to see scotch tape for" one to three months ". Don't you think?
Sender: Jim Price Date: 9 hours ago 9:15am EDT
Message: It always rusts under scotch tape. Seen it happen for years.
Feel free to send it back.
I will be glad to issue a refund upon arrival. No problem.
If I could paint them or apply a coating to them I would.
The only coating that does not get undermined by rust is an elevated temperature primed powder coat. One of the most impervious coatings known.
And after the heat of a fire even epoxy powder coat begins to rust.
The listing clearly states that it will attain a fine rust patina.
