Love your experiments and always like seeing what the differences in the glass are when you're finished.

Out of kiln this morning. Shards from two vases by SDS of China. IMO some of the finest hand blown glass in the world. Watch out Italy... Should have cracked, they must be using the same glass for their vases yeah ! Glass of superb quality. I have purchased 4 SDS vases, always large and always loaded w/colored glass. will start bidding on them since they can be cross melted. mix/mash melts, orange was supposed to be canary yellow. Damn glass, it often changes colors from heat first attempt using store bought color plate background cutting preforms changes personality. Damn that orange

Gotta slow down, got to many varieties and methods. ..... This glass is a lot of fun. Hard to imagine a few weeks ago you didn't think an electric kiln could melt glass fun to watch. I can't believe you haven't tried pot melts or 'combing', playing with molten glass yet. It'll soften all the straight lines in your creations, but mostly just fun. Interested to see how the market for bulk pendants goes, seems like your big selling point is that both sides are polished, and not the typical flat back off a kiln shelf? Huge market of small glass beads as well?... good luck, thanks for the updates.

Like the blue and purple and also the blue/yellow. Not so crazy about maroon and yellow, but colors are person preference. Probably people who've gone to ASU would love the maroon and yellow.

Glass is like heat treating steel as it needs ramps, holds, annealing, etc. The glass scrap I got from the glass blower does not lend itself to pot melts as the color is blown in and a very thin layer that is better positioned 'color side up' in a plate melt. learning to use what i was given at this point. Can't wait to pot melt some purchased color slabs. Hoping some sales will finance this hobby/business. Pretty sure I found my retirement hobby whether a penny is made or not.

The blue and purple my favs hands down but I did not have much scrap in hand at the moment this slab was built. Next time @humminbbirdstones, next time I will brew the same thing. Note taken and appreciate the input. There is enough scrap to make this combo many times over on large plates. It was an easy brew.

5 pounds 4 ounces, a whole kiln full of a China made vase. Large vase will yield over 10 pounds of these . Melt blobbed with white backing down. Will chunk them all in the tumbler and do a lot of pre-grinding on the edges to reduce my hand shaping.

On a rainy day like today, I think I'll just kick back, roll a Fatty and re-look thru jamesp glass art. Ready for a day off anyway.

Check out cabs cut from it. Odd how portions change the slab's personality.
