I am thinkin you just gained an additional level of respect here (well, form some). I like all colors. They all have their merits. Have not seen any lips recently. How are they progressing? For a goth look, try dark maroon or black in the lips. A straight red, with a little white to represent teeth, would be a vintage look. Check out current color trends for lipstick and imitate them. Like you need anything else on your plate.........

Some Wimmins made comments about having to ask my wife about forever color combinations/coordinations.
Denise has a good eye for color and design, and is in tune with what others like. Good bet you've decided to keep her, huh? And your little competitions are good for the evolution of your products.
YAY JAMES! THOSE ARE GREAT COLOR COMBOs! ATTA-BOY, JAMES!!
Sounds interesting. Always trying new things, pushing boundaries, crossing lines. You go, James!
Gotta have a designer (Queen Bee) and a worker bee (you). Job security!
Those colors are going to come out great together! Hope the increased temp/hold times work for you. Turn those bubbles loose!
How was that for a pep talk?
Can't wait to see that colorful flapjack come out of the kiln! WTG

Some Wimmins made comments about having to ask my wife about forever color combinations/coordinations. Check out my color picks(all by myself) for a classic teal/pink/brown/white mix. Us mens can see too and we are not all color blind.(looking for at-a-boys) Teal and cotton candy frit glued in too. The 'birds nest' creates stretch as the shard pile implodes making cool flow patterns. Quick and easy to do, no mold needed. This was my first 'bird's nest' done a couple of days ago(out of man colors ) Might be my favorite pattern due to stretch and larger features for pendants. Ready for lapper shaping. THOSE PASTELS ARE SPOT ON PERFECT!! Good boy!! He was looking for atta boys, not good boy

Lol, y'all petted me all so well. I should be fully rotten now. Must weld up a neck brace to support the big head. Thank you thank you, bowing. And "we're not worthy we're not worthy". Great folks you guys. Mucho inspirations
Last night one of those 50,000 foot storms came in at heat of the afternoon. Turned off AC as the storm cooled down the house. Woke up at 3AM burning up. The kiln. The kiln is in the basement and I increased the hold time at slump(1250) and max(1500) by triple and it must be 100F in the basement lol. It is by the way a 7000 watt heater...in a small basement. Next time some ventilation !
Am particularly anxious about this melt. Large amount of select glass. Biggest melt slabs ever and two of them. Estimating 16 inches diameter. Excited about the bird's nest approach.

Like you need anything else on your plate......... He he, color blind. Always had a fetish for color and light. As a nurd kid I was mesmerized by prisms and the spectrum. Colors from more of a Sci Fi approach. Not fashion. Always tinkered with optical devices. Mostly military surplus. Hypnotized by a rack of colored sewing thread - might be autism or something. There is something off there... Watching your crochets with great interest. They are stand outs. I have GOT to take photos of the lips and get them listed on Etsy. My 'lips coming soon' test listing has been on page 1 of over 250 pages under "lips jewelry" for a month now. By shear luck the search words must be appealing to Etsy's search engine somehow. If they don't sell being on page 1 then I might as well throw the rag in.

The 'bird's nest' melt method laid the colors in closer to the middle of the glass slab and a good thing. If they were close to the surface the tumbler would wear them away. Some are at surface and will be lost at shaping in tumbler. The shaping tumble changes their color/pattern personality a good bit. If the glass blower coated the surface of the shard with color then the shard is laid in at a slant with the color facing up for consistency of clear glass coverage.(if that makes sense) These preforms are on the thick side at 5/16" and will need a vigorous tumble in silicon carbide 60 to reduce thickness to about 3/16" +.

Nah, we get used to it. It's kind of like changing diapers. It's a dirty job, but somebody has to do it.

Dang, going from having my diapers changed to harem master(strutting like a rooster). I have had a motto in life to be the other way. I guess I got it from my Dad but much worse. He sat on his butt and played the stock market and of course made yields by investing in the minority direction. Me, I have always done everything as unconventional as possible. My career and my play time. My daredevil years are over and associated injuries a plaque. Attempts at novelty has paid my way thru life financially and rich in experience (in some what Don Quixote fashion may my wife have mercy on me). Terrorizing glass and rocks in kilns and tumblers has been the pastime for a while now. Every since I moved back home from the neighbor gal's house 10 years ago and causing me great grief for not staying with her. She was a loan officer at the local bank that did illegal loans for the judge's and sheriff's mistresses, lawyers and other crooks in small town Georgia. Practiced at entrapment that child. 3 husbands and 2 boyfriends all ended up incarcerated. Well connected and a long story never mind. A fine non-fiction book but the parole officer would advise me not to publish such for reasons of liable. It's all in the past. Moving forward.
