I stopped at Best Buy on the way home and got a microwave, but I may need to go back and get one of those Dyson vacuum cleaners that wimmins seem to like.
Or maybe just go to Home Depot and get the wood to build a nice big dog house!
Photos coming, gotta unload the truck.
I'm in SO much trouble! (due to lack of room to put all this stuff)

Got a milk crate packed full of their best teepee and dryhead pieces (that they would sell). Left quite a bit behind.
I'll post pictures soon. Gotta start somewhere.

None of that Billy. No Petoskey stone, Binghamite, Mary Ellen, banded iron ... I'm guessing they never hit that part of the country.

I'm running out of hiding places space! Can't wait to tell her I'm going back to Cocoa. It's the little things that make life worth living!

turning rock over - bad photos had to use flash couldn't wait until morning - ya'll are killin' me! If this doesn't do it I will add the state it is from, but this should be fairly easy. This is a large nice piece, but this type is often found with the bot. agate on it.

I really thought this one was pretty easy. I'll post a turned over pic in the morning before I head out on another wife pleasing mission. Turned over it is obvious.

So my old guy neighbor comes over this afternoon. He knows about my rock obsession. Has a local freebie mag in his hand. The kind with all sorts of ads in it.
see this coming yet?
Has an ad in the mag circled with an ink pen that he thinks I should see.
Ad: Lortone arbor model MP-8, Raytech 10" diamond saw, type LS-10, Star Diamond saw, grinder and polisher, Lortone compact tumbler, model QT-NR. 3 - $400 for all. Firm
I called and it's still available. Guess where I'm going in the morning. Wonder what else he has ... all that equipment, I figure he must have rocks too!

Checking on the origin of the ammonite Mike. Yes Rob, world class collection, but no steals and very few deals. He knows exactly what he has. Nothing like an estate sale where the relatives just want all those stupid rocks gone! They did, however, have a graduated % off the total scale which helped. I bought enough to get 30% off the total which knocked a couple thousand off the bill. Rumor has it I'm going back there again. Still working on when. I'd prefer not on a weekday as I would have to deal with Tampa and Orlando rush hour traffic. I already dislike most of the people out there, put 30 thousand of them in cars on the interstate while using their cell phones and that is the stuff of my nightmares. Looks like I'm going to have to turn that rock over tomorrow. Didn't really expect it to stump anyone. ETA: Mike fossilman - is there an ammonite thread here that explains what makes one of those things a "good one", or maybe some other article or site that does so in short order and SIMPLE language?

Got everything inside without breaking anything other than my back. I will be doing photos, but it may take a few days to get through this stuff. Here are a few quick ones using the cheapie camera. Got an appointment in an hour, so not much playing with rocks time today. A BIG sand calcite / desert rose / gypsum crystal formation. Need to do better pictures as time permits. This thing is actually quite stunning (and huge) hope I can take some pics to do it justice. Can't really tell the size and complexity from that angle. No clue where I'm going to put it. Anyone wanna guess before I turn it over? slab of petrified palm gotta run, but will be back soon. With buckets and crates of pretty good stuff!

Oh the spheres! I should have taken pictures... but I was dumbstruck. I know spheres. All overpriced (I know spheres) but Jesus... who has spheres like that!?? uh, no one. Maybe the Smithsonian? A few I tried for were not for sale. I wouldn't have sold them either were they mine.
Lots of gushing here I know, but I really can't explain what all I saw today. No one would believe it. Had to be there!

oh... some things I didn't know enough about. Are ammonites worth having? Museum quality things. fossilman I'll post a picture tomorrow of something that I considered, but didn't know enough. Probably worth the drive back just for that alone.

Not meaning to tease, just been a long day and no way I am unloading anything tonight. Busy drinkin'! Need daylight to TRY to take decent pictures.
I've never really shared much in the way of pictures of my collection (I'm way too lazy!) but it is rather impressive. Today took it up a notch.
Had they been willing to part with "the good stuff", today would have easily been a 50 thousand dollar day. They didn't / wouldn't, so I came home for much less than that. But this collection was a million PLUS without even thinking about it. Make that plus plus.
It was a GOOD day.

Just a wall in the living room - taken from a loft above Easily 100k+ wall - the good stuff (there were a lot of these walls!) Wish I could have taken a bunch of close ups to explain it all. My wife unit only said - who dusts all that stuff! *sigh* Folks have more (REAL) arrowheads than my house is worth. It was a truly amazing day. more coming

What a day. I can't even begin to explain. But I will try over the next few days. Wish my photographic skills were up to showing properly. I will try my best. Went to go see a craiglsist Rock Sale ad today. Talked about here: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/thread/81762/happensLeft at 8:30 this morning and got home at 7:30 tonight. Had a 2 1/2 drive home and I still don't have the words to describe my day and what I saw. Seriously. I'm very seldom at a loss for words, but oh my God! No pictures tonight, but I wanted to report in. Will work on this thread for the next week so come back and check. All I will say tonight is that I came home with rocks worth more than the truck I drove there and back in. And, they wouldn't sell "the good stuff"! I've never seen a collection that comes close. Sorry, I'm just still kinda shell shocked by it all - More later, I need to decompress and have a 6 pack - or two. No way I'm unloading the truck tonight. I'd be single tomorrow if I did. Oh. My. God. PS I will be going back! gotta run, have an eBay auction ending in a couple minutes that I want to hit.
