Awesome examples! Not sure but by the look of the photos, that lapis looks to be blue quartz. Like I said, could be the photo but the cut side doesn't look like the grain of Lapis to me. Quartz can often have flecks of mica in it as well and gives the appearance of Lapis. The true test is how it smells when you are cutting it. if it smells like sulfur, it is lapis (sodalite also smells of sulfur) That chariot looks fantastic! I have never worked any myself but am told it can be a little difficult because of the undercutting. Well worth the effort though. The color is fantastic!

Now, that is what I call a great birthday gift! By the look of the grain, I would say #4 is Amazonite. Is there any flash to it? Fran

That looks like mushroom rhyolite to me. It can be agatized in areas and quite hard. It can look quite different if sliced at a different angle as well. Looks like some good material too! Fran

You sure got some amazing slabs! When I got a box of Brenda, most was pitted and soft in spots so I haven't cut more than a few. I guess I need to get that rock out again an cut a few more and see what I find. I bet you get some great cabs! Fran

That is beautiful and rare! You could make a lot of money at your club auction with those! Hopefully they know what they are getting there!

Ed, your eye for the best cab out of a stone always amazes me! Love them all but I have to keep going back to look at the Priday plume and the plume agate from Tony. Amazing patterns and depth! Fran

Love them all but the poppies caught my attention. I kept going between the two varieties. Isn't it amazing how they have same coloring but all is opposite? Love it! Fran
