I have been reading regularly on this site since 2007,and joined in 2009. I have never been burned by a first time poster, selling. That is because I never order anything from them.I watch from the sidelines as the story unfolds,at times to the detriment of fellow RTH'ers.
I have noticed that several long time members have tried to warn members in the past, only to get blasted on here by a couple of members.I will not join in issuing warnings ever again,if you jump in to a stranger on the internet its your own fault, and getting burned will cure your urge the next time. Many newer members haven't encountered these scammers before, but they are out there, and this board has seen them.
Hope yall have a nice day!!

Been dumping it out on my garden beds for years unless it has borax in it.Vegetables and flowers seem to love the variety of minerals ground up!

I thought the new variety might spark your interest. The long strands of fruits are pretty cool. Why are your burnt out? Wierdly we can keep them all year long here. I eat so many I get burned out.The day and night temps here are too high to set fruit now, about the middle of September they will set again if any are still alive. snuffy

What a great thread idea! Always nice to be able to put a face to words as not all of us have selfies as profile pics. Great bunch of photos of all of you folks. Realized when reading this I've posted pics of my boys and got hubby in a shot from our bar harbor trip so figured I should add a pic of myself. (I'm always the one taking pics not in the pics lol) Took this pic (not big on selfies) Cuz I curled my hair, it's normally pin straight and up in bun Cuz it's too long to deal with lol You have beautiful eyes!! snuffy

Nice gourds, snuffy. That is something I've never grown before. Always love the pics of your yard and garden. Out here, we know them as sphinx moths. And yes, they do come from the hornworms. They eat your tomatoes, the moths pollinate you gourds. Sounds like a fair trade off. They pollinate the citrus (mainly orange) in my yard. As a kid, used to tie thread to them and fly them. Strong fliers! Jean, you got a great point about the trade off.My tomato plants are still green, but the temperature is too high to set fruit.I'm leaving them to see if some make it to fall, and don't check for the hornworms anymore.Live and let live! snuffy

This has been an excellent gardening year.Rain, mild temperatures, couldnt ask for a better one.I planted birdhouse and dipper gourds this year, and the blooms open just before dark, they must be pollinated by moths.Every night they are fluttering all around my garden.I decided to try to get pics of the large moths, but they didn't want to pose for me for the most part.Did get a couple, and one excellent shot of one obtaining nectar. Look closely,a very long probiscus A smaller one,can vaguely see probiscus coming out. They do the moonvines also, these flowers are 6 inches across, and very fragrant Some of their handiwork, dipper gourds, trellis broke down so heavy Birdhouse gourds. An enjoyable late evening stroll everyday! Thanks for looking. snuffy

Spent a very pleasant couple of hours at Johnson's about a year ago. It's about an hours drive away, but well worth the time. Had the opportunity to tour several of the small buildings. My wife and Mr. Johnson had a good visit on that bench. Planning to head back up there soon. He has a pretty good selection, and reasonable prices. I always tell people to allow half a day talking with Mr Johnson, and a half day looking and shopping! The first time I went,I didn't know what to expect going through the neighborhood, then was almost stunned to arrive there! Glad you went! snuffy

Lake Livingston has a lot of wood from what I understand. Have you been to Johnsons Rock Shop in Indian Springs near Livingston? A must see if you haven't. snuffy

Found this guy feeding on my tomato plants. A dear friend of snuffy. Nature can be cruel. Quoted from 'What'sThatBug.com': This is a Tobacco Sphinx, Manduca sexta, one of the species of Hornworms that are frequently found feeding on the leaves of tomato plants. It has been parazitized by a Braconid Wasp. The larval wasps feed on the internal organs and then emerge to pupate. Alas, this Tobacco Sphinx did not live to maturity. The tiny Braconid wasp, they are buzzing all over the place this year. Considered a beneficial insect. Apparently due to the effect on caterpillars. Yeah, definitely my amigos!!!If I found one with the eggs on it I would leave it,guess I don't let 'em live long enough to get laid!! snuffy

lean and mean, back to fighting weight. Good for you Snuffy. it is work season so i get to eat any damn thing I want. At 57 the joints are starting to hurt good and all that weight removing exercise is not so easy. Never had a jumbo bottle of Ibuprofen till recent. relate ? I guess I'm fortunate enough to never have to take anything,no aspirin, any pain reliever.Years of stucco work and gardening was good exercise I guess.Gonna be 65 in a few days.I eat high fat items for energy, very few carbs snuffy

Thanks James. I'll keep that recipe in mind for the future.Did 20 lbs of leg quarters this past weekend,be a while before anymore. The sugar would be the drawback for me right now, eliminated sugar, grains and starches from my diet 10 months ago, dropped 45 lbs,and don't intend to go back to where I was.Feel like a new person now.
