Buffalo Gap National Grasslands in SW South Dakota, NW Nebraska & a little bit of E Wyoming. Fairburn agates, prairie agates, bubble gum agates, black agates & in Nebraska blue agates. Did I mention fossils ?
This is rattle snake & mountain lion country, so be extra carefully where you put your hands & feet. Carry extra drinking water, and don't drive on the dirt roads if there are storms in the area. That gumbo mud will swallow the best of 4WD vehicles.

Bumping up an old subject.
I'm a bit surprised to see that the traveling rock box seems to have disappeared from the yearly fun. If someone wants to get it going again, I have a bunch of stuff I could donate.

In the second pic, the small one in the middle appears to be a dermal spine from an ancient stingray. Commonly called a stingray scute. One from my collection

Hope all my Bros & sisters who served this great nation in uniform have a happy & safe 4th. All of you who haven't served, but support our military, police & fire fighters have a great 4th too. And for those who don't support our men & women in uniform, GO POUND SAND.

You'd need to sand the first later to rough it up enough for a second coat to stick. A second coat wouldn't hurt, but Gelcoat goes down pretty thick.

Takes a primary explosion to set off the C4. Gas + air under compression + spark = primary explosion. Walnut size piece of C4 stuffed down a sparkplug hole = secondary larger explosion. Works best on motor cycles. Rider wears half the engine in his crotch.

Too old to give a damn.
I'd tell you a little trick with C4, but unless you have contacts, that stuff is hard to come by.

Oh, about a cup full in a tank of gas.
Or if you know any drag racers, have them get you a couple gallons of nitromethane to add to his tank. Once it hits his engine it'll run like a striped assed ape for about a minute, before it grenades.

Shove a potato up his tailpipe and pour some sugar in his gas tank. Its a fantasic message to leave. Hahaha if it happens again...burn it! Sugar only screws up the fuel system. Iodine crystals seize up the whole engine. No flushing or fixing possible. Bad guy has to buy everything from the fuel tank up to & including the engine to get his car back on the road. Takes about 3 miles of driving before the engine seizes up. Don't ask. I ain't telling about that NIS agents brand new jeep.

For a less toxic way, try soaking one in good old household white vinegar. If the rust stains aren't too deep, they'll come off. Afterwards the vinegar can be poured over weeds to kill them. If that doesn't do the job, move up to oxalic acid, (Wood bleach available at your local hardware store). Use this outdoors, away from kids & pets. After treating your geodes, let them soak for a day in clean water. Change the water 2 or 3 times.

If you have a shop near you that repairs vacuum cleaners or sewing machines, take your belt with you & have them find one slightly larger. Chances are that they'll have several in stock, so pick up extras.

If using the UV light outdoors, don't pick up rocks that appear to be moving. Scorpions glow green under UV, and I've heard that some rattlers will glow as well. And the scorpions in Clear Creek (home of benitoite) glow the same color as benitoite. Cool.Must have something to do with the minerals they're getting in their diet in their local habitat.
