Crap. That's all I could think of to say at first Don - not good with words of encouragement other than fight that sh*t as long as you are drawing breath. Two more things have come to mind since I started typing - first of all sincerely thanks for all your help during the funds drive for RTH. You were a rock star - no pun intended. Secondly, never never never tell a group of rockhounds where an agate like that is going to be buried. Just sayin. LOL Tommy. If they want to dig up that agate, There might be a little treat for them. I have a fifth of Jack Daniels that was given to me way back in 68 that might go in the box too. A buddy gave me the Jack, & we were supposed to drink it when I came home from Nam. He was killed in a car crash before I came home & the bottle was never opened.

I bought a set of 1/2" X 6" convex wheels from Jadecarver a while back. I'm slowly converting an old 6" arbor to hold the wheels with a 2" center to center gap between them. The intention is to build a machine just for freeform cabs with inside curves. jadecarver.com/index.php/product-category/grinding-wheels/convex-grinding-wheels/They aren't cheap, but they're good quality wheels. If you plan to do a lot of inside curves, these might be just what you need. My machine when finished will hold 5 wheels & a polish wheel on the right end.

Damn Brother!! Hate to hear news like that! You do what you have to do Don and yes old goats never give up the good fight!!! Hey Mike, you just take care of yourself. Don't worry about me. Bob has known about this for about a year. When he comes to collect my stuff, I'll have him pack a box or 2 of choice material for you. He can pass it to you next time he gets up there. And now for cooooofffffeeee. As long as I can still drink my coffee, I'm still kicking. (Even if I do have to hold the cup with both hands).

Well folks, I'm off to take a couple happy pills & get some sleep. So far I'm only taking pills to get a few hours sleep. Trying not to get hooked on these damned opium based pills the doc gave me for pain. Just grit my teeth during the day & take a couple to help me get to sleep.

As long as I can still snipe a few on ebay, I'll keep going. Scored a brand new 6" Star diamond blade the other day, then scored a 1971 Star Diamond catalog the next day.
Oh & can't forget the near mint Texas Rocks automatic gem drill I'm gonna try to restore. Just needs a good cleaning, new belts & new paint on the Texas logo.
Long as I can still turn a wrench & screwdriver, I'll keep on restoring them.

No sea burial for me. Got my hunk of ground on the side of a hill, well above sea level. If I outlast my dog Jake, His ashes will be in the box with me, along with my favorite Fairburn agate. This one? uh... where is that hill again? Yup. My most valuable one.

Damn people, I ain't gone yet. I can still play with my minerals & fossils. Gonna enjoy life as long as I can. My only regret is, I promised Uncle Sam when I retired from the Navy that I was going to live til 110, just to collect that retirement check. Guess I ain't gonna make it. But so far they've paid me 32 years of retirement checks for 20 years of service, so I'm up 12 years on them. You old salt! My dad was the same way. He wanted every check coming to him. Then he wanted them to bury him at sea. And they did. LOL. No sea burial for me. Got my hunk of ground on the side of a hill, well above sea level. If I outlast my dog Jake, His ashes will be in the box with me, along with my favorite Fairburn agate.

Not looking for sympathy or anything. Just wanted to let everyone know that I have terminal thyroid Cancer. It has hit in my right armpit worse than anywhere else. Hurts like hell to raise my right arm to type, so don't expect to see much from me. I'm still logging in every day to read what's going on, but my comments will be very limited. I'm hoping that I can hang in long enough to finish restoring a trim saw for a friend. Contacted my trucker buddy Bob, (montanamadman) to get his butt over here ASAP to load up my rocks & equipment. I can no longer hold a dop stick steady enough to cab. I've lost all use of 2 fingers of my right hand. Hoping I'll be able to take the street rod out for a drive or 2 before I have to put it up for sale. I've kicked a lot of rocks over the years. Hiked many miles searching for stuff worth bringing home to cut. Now it's time to let the younger generations take their turn. I've left plenty out there for them to find & enjoy. I'm still an ornery old goat. Gonna stick around as long as I can. Maybe even give the liberal snowflakes a bad time once in a while. Don

On the larger saws, you'll find that the slotted blades carry more cutting oil to the cut, as well as doing a better job of clearing rock snot from the cut. Many years ago they made slotted lapidary blades all the way down to 10" size. I wish they still made them in the smaller sizes.

None better than the 303-S on the bigger saws. It's all I'll use.

Nope. I'm way up in the NE corner of SD. Aberdeen. Got a couple rockhound friends in Rapid City though, and another in Pierre who goes out to Indian Creek often. Busy in November?? My and my Labs would love to pay you a visit. LOL LOL. My Jack Russel might not be very happy about your Labs. He's very territorial. Loves humans, but won't allow another animal on his property.

I'd suspect that the infinity sign is just on the surface. It looks like that may be the place where another nodule broke away from the piece you found. If you're very careful, you might be able to put a shine on it.
Mike / Fossilman could better tell you if you have baculite in matrix. I have a piece of that black matrix sitting here on my desk that's loaded with small clam shells. It also came from Indian Creek.

Looks to be a water worn prairie agate. There may be some banding inside, but I doubt that the eyes on the outside really indicate what may be inside. Cut it if you want, but if it were me I'd just face polish the infinity sign and use it for a display piece.
I've seen some very nice Fairburns that have come from the Indian Creek area. Also some killer marine fossils. It's a place well worth exploring whenever you get the chance.
