Sounds good except for the cilantro. Hate that stuff. 1/8 cup might be tolerable, or sub horse raddish for the cilantro for extra zip.

It pains me to see that certain of our members place such a low value on the tons of info contained in this forum. It makes me wonder if it's worth my time to continue sharing info and advice with people who need it. Guess I'll just lay back and see what happens. If the forum ends up in hands outside of the RTH family, you'll get exactly what you deserve.
Myself, At best I have 2 more years left on this earth. I worry about the future generations of rockhounds, and the knowledge they may be loosing. As for present members, many of you I care about. But there are some who already seem to know it all. Those I could care less about.

Only 6 donation in the past 22 hours. Damn people, don't you think RTH is worth saving & keeping in house ? I for one am disappointed in the response so far. Look, the fundraiser goes through March. Nobody said money had to be given in the first 24 hours. I know we're all excited to get a good start on it, but hang in there. I, and I'm sure others, plan on participating. I don't think this topic is going away anytime soon. No badgering, please. Not trying to badger. The way I see it, the sooner we reach our goal, the sooner the forum will be ours to keep. I'm sure Tommy can close the deal with Mark before March 30th, if the purchase amount is reached before then.

Welcome aboard Roberto.
I spent about 3-1/2 years in Italy, stationed in Gaeta with the US Navy. They kept us pretty busy, so much to my regret I didn't have a chance to hunt rocks in your country.

Pardon me, but doesn't gofundme take a pretty good percent out? I'm assuming this is on that gofundme site. Would it not be better - money raising wise - to have donations go elsewhere to circumvent the fees? Your point is valid - yes it's expensive but in the interest of transparency when it comes to money I think it's best to keep it out on the open like this. Plus people frickin LOVE a big visible meter telling them how close to the goal we are ... If I could install one of those mercury thermometers to show how high we are getting I would in a heartbeat. At least they don't charge the donor which is good. That means the responsibility is mine - I'm OK with it but I might have to backtrack on the offer to accept Paypal unless people agree to send it to me as "friends and family." I can vouch for Tommy's honesty. I sent my contribution via Paypal to Tommy last night. Within minutes it came up in the Go-Fund-Me- contributions link. Don

/quote]was to delete "deadbeat members" without Mark's approval with the purpose of devaluing the forum. I have blown nothing out proportion nor taken anything out of context. I do not appreciate being made out as some sort of villain here.

That's OK Bob. You can have this thread all to yourself, since your opinions seem to be the only valid ones. I'm finished posting here.

Oh I forgot, don't delete people. I belong to a antique GM diesel pickup truck forum. I only show up there every few years but when I do my stuff is still there and I can post etc. If someone is deleted here then their post count disappears....They can't sell without 50 posts. They don't get to continue their post number awards. Worse they don't feel loved!!! Look how many times someone comes on here and says "Life got busy and I haven't been here for a long time but I dusted the tumblers off and want to start again". Let em work, let em live!!! This thread is a bit side tracked with this discussion, but I agree. Deleting inactive members is a dick move. It does nothing to improve the forum and does a lot to hurt it and piss people off. Don't do it. If people had bothered to read my original post on deleting people, Those same people would have seen that I was speaking of people who joined 10 to 13 years ago and have either not posted a single thing, or hadn't even logged in since joining. Those are the deadbeats I was speaking of. Certain others have taken it upon themselves to blow my original statement completely out of proportion.

I know what you were getting at , I wouldn't join a forum that only had a couple members either . Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers .

I currently am a member of a rock forum which only has 94 members. We are doing just fine, and gain new members almost every week. I won't mention the name of that new forum because I don't want to attract members whom I find less than friendly to that forum. I was invited to join that new forum by an RTH member who has since been inactive here. That has been a year & a half ago. We're a friendly group over there. Sure, we sometimes disagree with someone. We discuss our disagreements without the back biting seen here.

I seem to have stirred up a hornets nest with my comment about dumping deadbeat members. Good. Got people thinking & talking. Now I'm just gonna sit back & read the comments. If we decide in the end to pool money to buy the forum, I'm good for $100.00, just to see it continue for future & present active members. If it were for the deadbeats, I wouldn't contribute $.02. Nuff said.
