Lake Mead is rising now but is set for a big drop in water levels in 2024. "Projections contained in Reclamation's 24-month study show the lake will drop to 1,056.19 feet by the end of December 2024. By the end of December 2025, Lake Mead will drop to 1,044.33 feet. On July 27, 2022, Lake Mead dropped to its lowest level since it was filled: 1,041.71 feet above sea level." www.newsweek.com/lake-mead-set-big-drop-water-levels-2024-1861464

First points of the year. Knapped from some North Carolina milky white quartz I picked up a few years ago. It is hard to find a piece that doesn't have those dreaded cracks. I had a third attempt break in half right on a crack line while I was thinning it down. I knew it would happen and sure enough it broke. Point styles - in the Southeastern US we call these Yadkin style points. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/zB8K21GJ/IMG-0001.jpg) ![](https://i.postimg.cc/7P53xHpg/IMG-0003.jpg)

Austin, Tx. hit a low for yesterday of 15 which was the record for this day. The oranges and other plants around(outside) the house are toast but so far the heated garage that is filled with potted plants is a nice 70 with two space heaters and multiple lights. The garage has many large potted Asian-semitropical plants that I am taking care of for one month while my neighbors are visiting relatives 8800 miles away in a nice warm climate. Our house-zone 8- is also filled with plants from the deck and creates a house interior that looks like an arboretum with very colorful leaves and shapes/patterns. Cold outside but warm inside as long as the gas and electric work. Victor, do you bring in any lizards/critters indoors with the plants? I bring the snake plants in every year during the winter and every now and then a lean brown lizard will show up around the planters.

You are very organized and have a great display for your collection. This was my temporary display back in 2008 - the end table next to the couch and in front of the TV. A perfect location. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/pXRp6vRF/End-Table2008.jpg)

It looks like shell to me. Perhaps a ridge/knob broken off from a whelk shell. I've found similar before and they can get pretty big. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/bJRLyj9n/Capture.jpg)

Poured from a bowl into a brick mold. Poured a whole 14 pounds of glass(normally they are 10 pounds, brick about 11x6x1.6 inches). Black glass is actually dark brown, other is tan, both probably loaded with iron and strong tough glass. Tribal pattern, almost dendritic flow. ![](https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53455941988_47c026c21c_c.jpg) Lower photo is cut thru where glass poured in. The glass was stacked in the bowl in alternating colors. It flowed thru the hole like brown and black balloons inside of each other(more obvious in upper photo) which is mysterious. More glass was added in the bottom of the bowl per color and less as filling bowl thinking that the first balloon to fill the mold is larger, but the smaller balloons are thicker. Could have been a theory of vanity...an upside down volcanic obsidian flow into a brick mold comes to mind. ![](https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53455942983_1de128d2dc_c.jpg) Two 1/4's of the whole brick ![](https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53456129824_1115b76595_c.jpg) Bumble Bee Glass

Made me so happy to see him free Thought of you the other day Ali. I was driving out to a customer's house and saw a large bird off in the distance. I was positive from the way the wings were flapping it was a Bald Eagle. Sure enough...it flew down the length of the road and gave me a nice view as he/she passed overhead. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) He/she/it

1dave I once had a coin ring made from a gold wedding band soldered onto a bent Mexican gold coin. I ended up selling it for the scrap gold value of about $175. per ounce back in the late 1970's. Wish I still had it today as the price of gold is now $2,045.
