the rock looks like it might be serpentine in basalt? As for the big red one it looks like a Kawasaki prairie 300 c/w a stylin carryall

I like the idea of keeping the moving parts more away from the snot but as you have a machine shop you know what happens when you have an arm that long; lots of different forces, I'm glad you got it working well. Look forward to more pics.

the top one looks like you got into an old construction site :<) the second one looks like calcite on the one you call? granite, I would say looks like some agate of some type? Don't know about any for sure but they sound like you have the rest right

sorry, wrong picture posted The top picture is a local banded agate I found, it has inclusions of "gold"? or maybe it's just pyrite

got home today and needed some down time. I thought the best way would be to get creative with some Lloydite and some of the guatemalan jadeite and a nice peice of palm wood that a fellow on another forum gave me that he brought back from indonesia. They are all done freehand so there isn't any conformity I'd post more pics but I don't have a photo service. Thanks for looking Lloyd Attachments:

Must have been going after some big fish; glad you got out of the water safe :<) It's a shame you had to take all the equipment in with you though.

I'm going to guess; from it being your grandfathers collection, that there are going to be a lot of minerals in the collection and will give you "Mindat" to help if we can't. Not saying there is going to be any reason to use it of course. :<)

yes you definately have some scraping going on and as I have never had one I don't know where it is coming from but possibly when they pried the pulley off the shaft of the 60cycle motor and redid it or put a 50-60 cycle motor on and replaced the pulley or gear and bent it in the process or it's on crooked. Quality control is only as good as the person doing the job and I get complete automatic door systems that I have to rebuild because ------- doesn't do their job properly. Parts backwards, wrong size, blah blah and lots of missing or improperly installed stuff. It's supposed to be mostly a working unit but the manufacturer sends a letter saying that they are not responsible for loose nuts or other mechanical defects. It's like buying a car and having to go in and check the torque on every bolt, screw, nut and fitting. IT IS MADDENING!!!
