As they are freed to actually speak their minds, more and more people will actually admit there is an issue and because we are the ones creating the problem; we should be taking the hit for it too. Don't pass it on to your children. It's our blind insistance on living beyond the capacity of the planet to support it that is the problem. I will restate my remark about the problem and solution.

for sure, get them started young. My daughter was up for the weekend and wanted to so I helped her to cut her first cab; about 2in.x1 1/4in. of local greenstone; her favorite, and then we made a nice pendant necklace for her and she wore it proudly to her friends family reunion. Did I mention she is 27 :<))) She is a starving artist working in Vancouver and as an artist has a really good eye for shape.

Now you've started it Jim; I've seen how the vocal minority snows these discussions in on other forums but I'll say right up front HEAR HEAR, and there is a now old saying; if you're not part of the solution, you are part of the problem, that still applies. It takes 1000-1500 years for the salt cooling cycle that regulates the ocean temperatures to do one circuit so what we are sowing now is unstoppable till then. Many more time bombs are being fused by us right now, we are doing this to our own children!

Sounds like crap, Try isolating the noise and putting something on the metal plate to stop the vibration there. Maybe clip a couple of vise grips on to the "lip" of the tray to stop the resonating there so you can hear where it's coming from. I wouldn't find that acceptable at all but even going 50 cycles on a 60 cycle motor shouldn't do that but it does sound kind of like some high speed pulsation but some scraping as well.

I worked in a heavy equipment shop and serviced 15 heavy haul trucks that pulled 2- 200 ton loads of logs over a 20 mile mountain road every day. I did tire repairs during the day and truck service at night; a 16-20 hour day depending on what needed doing. At night I doubled with another fellow on the service work and he did the bottom and I did the top. We were supposed to check each others work but the last truck of a really long day and week I didn't. Well you can imagine which truck he forgot to put the plug back in and which one I didn't check. I learned several valuable lessons that day at 17 years old. it's one of the reasons for my tagline

water needs chemicals in it so it doesn't go bad and the oil makes them show off better :<))

waters pretty high this year with the late spring and all the rain we've gotten this year; just had another roll through and more allready forecast for the weekend. At least the woolies will be well fed; the worst is when there's a drought and they're scrambling for anything they can find. Sows with cubs though, just don't mix with others.

I'm glad you noticed it and managed to get the rig stopped safely!!! That had to be a terrible few minutes, I'm sure your quick action and some damn good luck kept the damage and injuries to what they are. GOOD JOB!!!

I've got three diamond scrub pads that I use for the worst of the scratches; they end at 350grit and sure take a lot of the work out of it. Lloyd

I know it's off the rock topic but my neice's husband on Vanc. Island does all sorts of carvings in found wood and this is a peice of his about 8x12 that is a treasure of artististic impressionism and is hung in prominent display in my house.
