Beautious eye candy to wake up to! I'm a sucker for dino bone but all of them are gorgeous. That third bone is to die for!

Great pics of some stunning rocks! I love that red coral and the yellow/pink one, but the green one, HOLY COW! And great job with the cut! Are you planning to slab it or leave as halves?

Fun! I like the third one down - those pinks are just begging to be cabbed! All very interesting though, and fun to see Utah material. Self collected?

1/4" is sort of standard unless you have a special purpose for thicker or thinner. Like for a cat's eye cab you want almost a half inch. Or sometimes people cut thicker for unstable material. Or they cut thinner to try to get more slabs out of expensive rock.

Stunning set! That luna looks really three dimensional - but the first one has to be my favorite. Or the black opal. I want to get the blues now too!

Yes, I think the small chunks was key. Also you embedded them rather than just having links. Would love to come up sometime, those are definitely different rocks than available here. Have any luck at the show?

What a great trip report, Thanks Tommy! Really fun so see what the area looks like and the range of rocks to find. Charley is a handsome doggo too, and quite helpful it looks like! Looking forward to seeing your cuts!

Mel is it typical for Tx palm to have that red coloration in it? Beautiful!

That's a really nice Apache, lots of contrast in it. Beautiful. I like the Pet Wood a whole lot too.

Have fun Tommy - you always find the best stuff! I vote you go to Stoney Creek, as I've never been there and eager to see the pictures of what it looks like.

I think the material soaked in acid is purpurite or another related stone. This would explain why my rough basically lost its purpleness when I cabbed it. In the hand, this stuff (assuming it is Purpurite like I had/have) looks surface metallic, sorta like covelite only purpler, rather than like labradorite or moonstone, where the chatoyancy seems to emanate from the inside of the stone like a flow. Does that makes sense?

That is some true red on that last one! It's my favorite. Love that long oval shape.
