My rough cups don't cut very fast once it is to the point it is now. The dots are almost gone now and I will let it go longer so the bad spots shrinks or maybe even goes away. Once the ball is out of the rough grind, it will probably go into the bin of rough ground forms and wait its turn as the next one goes on the rough grind, and it is a crazy lace too.

It is close to done with the iron cups.
I have another CL in the saw and I screwed up the measurements. I cut the first rotation too big so now I have to go back around and recut it all 12 times. The good news is that it will result in 12 small slabs that have a tiny bevel on the sides and will look cool. They would have been part of the bigger, less cool looking first round scraps so at least I have that going for me. If I am going to screw up, that is how I want to do it.

Yep. It lets me see the flats much easier while it is rolling.

Thought "Hmm, that sounded like an electrical pop. Looked around and didn't see the mystical blue smoke. OK. Keep on keeping on. Turn the saw on and when it is done, I hit the switch and got a handful of the mystical blue smoke. And a big flash. The switch on the saw went to hell in a most spectacular manner. Now I have to wait until tomorrow to get a switch. I needed to slow down a little any way.

MN has quartsite, but I have never seen it around this area. The western part of the state has mines for it apparently. That would be the MN/SD area.

Could be, but I have never seen quartzite in our part of the state.

Yeah. I agree. But the picks work on everything else. I don't get it.

I don't know. It cuts fine and looks just like normal breciated Burro, but the pick would not scratch it.

I just tested the hardness and the main material is harder than the #9 picks in the test kit. This could be interesting.

I cut the chunk I busted off today. Seems really hard and the colors are quite subdued. Too overcast today to take pics. Maybe tomorrow.

Must have been working with bumblebee jasper.

I cut mine around 8mm. That is 9 turns on my 18" Frantom. People have told me that they really like that my slabs are a little thicker than the others because it gives them more room to wiggle and more options for the slab. If they want it thinner, they just thin down the cut off preform to the thickness they like. They still have the options for the remainder of the slab.
