My Grizzly lathe is around 5 years old, it's a 2hp I think and still runs strong. Win some lose some probably. A good motor was tuaruselectric but they are out of stock for awhile.

Hi Lee.....I hate it when that happens! Some of the farmers around here have bottomless pockets it seems. Yesterday was pretty good though I got a $340 stick welder for $100 and it looks like the most use it's had is sitting in the corner. Also picked up an older air compressor that works and is built really well for $60, horizontal. I'm happy with it. Waiting on the neighbor to get here to go help me with that fridge. It's an ancient whirlpool kinda cool.

Picked up a lot of great tools. Seen some friends. Having some cold beers now and waiting for the neighbor to get dinner ready for us lol. I bought him a battery charger so he's cooking. Haven't had a stick welder in a long time just happened to be a basic model there that basically looked like new I got for $100. Just in time as I got some rusty projects coming. All in all a pretty good auction. Except for the owners who I was standing by and they were raising hell that they were just giving things away. Wow. They lived in the country for many years and autions all over the place they'd never been to one? The other odd thing is that the woman that lived there had her name and social security number engraved on almost everything. There was a super nice old wood table...........and a 6" long social number right in the middle of it. Still gota go back tomorrow and pick up my new shop beer fridge. Been needing one. $20. Couldn't pass that up.

"The most important thing to remember is to take all your measurements at the same place on the blade"
No doubt.
I like the welded nut pillow block adjustment. God forbid if a new mfg spent an extra $5 to do that.

Hi Shotgunner, most saws with the larger vise on a 24" are around 17" so you're pretty close. I would recomend a bookend type vise for something that large and right now I just couldn't get to it anytime soon I apologize. If this is something that can wait till later down the road then possible.

Good ones. Haha.
Ok, a bit nasty so be forewaned:
The lone ranger and Silver were crossing the desert. They made camp at nightfall and went to sleep. Around 3am they were captured by Indians and taken back to the Indians camp. The Chief told them we are going to kill you in 3 days and you can have one wish for each day. So the loneranger whispers in Silver's ear. Silver runs off and a couple hours later comes back with this totally hot red head and the lonerange has his way with her for a couple hours and passes out. Next thing you know tomorrow is here and the Chief says we are going to kill you the day after tomorrow. But for now you get your 2nd wish. So the loneranger whispers in Silvers ears and Silver takes off. Couple hours later Silver shows up with this smoking hot brunette. The Loneranger being the man he is did what comes natural. It's late, he passes out and the next thing you know it's the 3rd and last day. The Chief comes to say this is your last day. Tomorrow you die. You have one last wish, wish wisely. So once again the Loneranger whispers in Silvers ears and Silver takes off. Couple hours later Silver returns with the most beautiful blond you've ever seen in your life. Judging from past experience you think you'd know what the Loneranger was going to do but instead he grabs Silver by the reins and starts furiously shaking him and yells at the top of his lungs "Posse you stupid ******* horse, Posse!!!!!!!!"

I'm totally in favor of the leak. Although I already had a good idea what was going on.
Just for the record.......i'm not anti-gov't and anti the jackasses in control of it. It's not a strict Obama thing, it's a not a republican thing, it's the club vs. us. I've personally known politicians that were one party or the other for decades and switched for better election chances. You can't trust any of them.

They were born with 'bad wiring'. It's understandable to hate them but at the end of the day we're just sophisticated machines and something got screwed up really bad along the way. It can't be fixed so they have to go.

I got hold of a Covington 10" years ago. Took one look at this tank you are talking about and sent it down the road. Didn't want to deal with it. I probably would remove the entire baffle. I did like the vise though.

Here is us having a little fun at the creek last night. I am in the middle, my neighbor and good friend Paul is on the right and it's his older brother Gary on the left. Doing what we do best.....drinking beer, guns and 4 wheelers lol. Would've rather had my Henry 44mag but I won't shoot it when I get down to 200 rounds it's too hard to get hold of right now.

Thanks for the comments.
Daniel........I don't really know what's on my rock pile lol. I really need to start going thru some of it. So can't really say what I have. For instance im cleaning out the bad dog shed and there's a large tote, a few crates and a trashcan filled to the top with who knows what and that's not including my other stuff in the barn. I've known enough hardcore rockhounds over the years to know 'not' to say it's a huge collection because some of them really are huge like the guy that sold us the HP saws he has an entire storage locker full. I do keep track of stuff that people give me though.
I really just need to whip one out and install it in my insulated area of the barn. When I get that done if you have rocks too big for your saw you could use it whenever you want. I actually have the prototype that has the same inner workings it's just not nearly as eye-catchy and probably be a good one to just abuse it for all it's worth.
If you've never seen the site check out Cigarboxrock.com. They demand premium prices and get it but do really good work. Just mentioning it because they cut the wood vise liners for HPs and Frantoms and mine are shot.
Shotgunner......Depends on how big you wanted it. As of yet im not building bookend vises. I know how I was just waiting until I build 24" and 36" saws. Also if you already have fixed dimensions i'd probably rather avoid that but if you could build the saw around the vise that would be the way to go.
Also keep in mind this is not a full-time endeavor for me at this point in time. These things are a ton of work, not highly profitable for the labor involved so I am just mixing it in with everything else I have going on.
I admit these things are addictive to use lol. I have it running right now. Decided to go ahead and slab up what is left on the crossfeed of the rainbow jasper chunk and post pics later there's several slabs left.
