Hello everyone! I recently picked up 5lb in two chunks of Labradorite from Madagascar. Here is just one of the cabs I am working on from one of the two chunks. This is more spectrolite with all of it's colors, The other chunk has alot more blue and yellow and greens in it. Nothing is polished yet... Waiting on my new 800 and 1200 bits to come in the mail This is what the cab was cut from the left corner... And the Cab Thanks for taking a look at this work in progress...

Thanks for the welcome! I'm also in AZ, Chris - over in Lake Havasu City. Happy to bring smiles to faces with my nickname, my hubby and I have been rock collecting for about 5 months with the local Gem & Mineral club, I usually forget the spray bottle of water... About a month ago we started learning to Cab our rocks. I've always loved rocks, this is so much fun I did some rock hounding in the Colorado river last summer just south of the Dam for Lake Havasu City. Found some Great agates and such up there!! Again Welcome to the forum!!

That's pretty neat. I reached for my flashlight for a second though. Lol... Yes, It is a pretty deep geode!! There was quite a bit of fluorite in that piece I was surprised when I cut it!!

I never poured anything down into the bottom of my lot-o barrels, most of the time two or three media pieces get stuck in there and when ur done u hit the little nub bottom with a screwdriver or whatever. Spray out the barrels with pressure from ur finger all the grit will come out...

Chrysocolla is a 2-2.5 moh so its fairly soft cuts real easy on the saw... Would for sure scratch with knife.
It does tumble well though as i have some previous chrysocolla in with abunch of random harder rocks but they are holding there own in there!!

just keep in mind that the double loto has to be run with both barrels full at all times. I ended up going with two seperate ones that way I am not locked into needing 9 pounds of rocks ready at a time. I do have mine mounted at normal counter height. I went with 4 cinder blocks high and a solid 4x8x16 block on top. I think the instructions say to mount it to a 40 pound base. chuck Yes, You need both barrels running at the same time on the double lot-o. I did read that in the instructions but i figure the anchors hold walls up in people houses... so it prob is more secure then even being on blocks!!

Possibly... What would you have to trade? I have a lil bit of everything from alot of the north-eastern states oreg. nev calif utah ariz. and a few other. Have some fluorite thats pretty nice look, alot of my stuff is old stock. I have approx. 20-30 different woods..very colorful ryolite..i dont have any of the stuff like ocean jaspers, morrrisonite or whatever..fossils are limited to a very few...eggs have a few hundred from all over cut and uncut..these are mainly old stock. anyways i could go on...i was just interested in a display slab or rough even an end cut for my personal collection.. We can work something out... Let me sort thru my stuff abit and I will get back to you!

I have a double Lot-O tumbler and it KICKS ASS!! As jugglerguy said you have to bolt it down. I used 4 redhead concrete anchors and drilled straight into the concrete slab in my garage on the floor. Then i drilled 4 holes in the wood the lot-o sits on and used nuts to secure it to the bolts on the ground. It aint going nowhere!!!! Good luck!

Be sure and show us some of your finished cabs............. 39don Actually it was pretty easy to dig thru the pegmatite that was around it.. I was happy it came out pretty easy!! Hardest part was carrying the buckets full back to the truck.
