Thank you all. Adrian, that is solder in there-60/40 lead/tin to be exact. Russ Did you copper foil it? Yes I did. Copper foil method. Really not that hard, and it's really kind of fun. I've soldered a few miles of copper for water and air lines, this is kind of the same but a little different. Russ

How does agate cope with the hot temps of molten tin/lead? Adrian Not a problem, the heat doesn't affect the rock at all. It really isn't that hot, the melting point of that alloy is only 188C/370F. The duration of the heat is really short as well. Russ

high desert wood and stone what lights it up ? candle- bulb? cool design Thanks, Ed with the name that keeps getting longer. The wood base is drilled to hold one of those little tea candles. In the picture it is actually illuminated by a little battery powered fake tea candle, found them at Sleaze Mart. If a person wanted a bunch of them I suspect shopping around online would come up with a better price, I just haven't taken the time yet. Russ

652 miles, 10hrs with today's traffic. About 870 from here. I could cut about 200 or so off by going through the park but-dealing with holiday traffic is bad enough anyway without dealing with Yellowstone holiday traffic. Russ

Can I join? nowyo , Tommy , could I trade gas or food for a ride? Russ and his bride are the finest of folks. Michelle, you will fit right in. I am sure they wont take gass money, but some meat for the grill likely wont be declined... (I could be wrong... ) I wish i could make it. May still. What days are memorial weekend? Perhaps, since a date is now set, a new thread is in order? Getting serious about it...... Thanks! I wouldn't worry too much about food or gas, this is all just for fun. Despite what @shotgunner says, while my wife may be a fine person I'm generally half a step above total dirtbag. I sometimes semi-successfully pretend to be sort of okay. The others are all great folks, though. Russ

Wampidy Jim had one of those setups on his Ford truck. Worked okay, but when he went to fill it and they added the road tax to the propane it wiped out any savings.

On our way to Quartzsite in January we swung through SoCal. Hanging out with Cyndi's brother on Saturday there were a bunch of old warbirds flying around. One group with twelve planes in formation flew directly over the house. I've always loved the sound of those old radials, and Merlins, and Allisons. On Sunday it was raining-seems like it always rains when I go to the desert-so we all went over to the Palm Springs Air Museum. Pretty awesome place. PT 17. Stearman. I've actually ridden in one of these, my sister's husband had one. His father flew them as an instructor in WWII, then went on to a career with Pan Am-remember them? I'll let you play with the rest of the ID's yourselves. Quiz at the end. Some durn fool was out in the rain taking pictures. He never was too bright. They even had a MIG 21. Well worth spending some time there if you're in the area. Thanks for looking. Russ
