I've got three of the Starrett ones, my dads [still in box], wifes dads, and one given to me by a millwright at work. Said millwright bought it at a garage sale and two of them spent a whole shift trying to figure out what it was; me, being the "old guy" on the crew was approached for an I.D. The guy couldn't see any use for it so he gave it to me. Used it several times in the mill over the years. I like yours a lot spiceman , would grab it if I ever saw one available. Enjoy old tools, work good and don't need batteries. No batteries, very true. They had the technology back then for product that we still use now. thank you

Not very clear on the response. You can't reset it. You just have to keep track of the start and stop points.

I went fishing at a pond for Father's Day. Noticed a rock that looked a little different than what I see. Got the rock, put it in the truck. My son laughed at me. OK, maybe I'm crazy but it looked different. The pond is next to I-70 in Ohio and very old. It split apart in transit. Is it just a old stupid rock? Or m aybe, something Im not used to seeing. Don't know.... Does anyone else know?

Outstanding Nate! I made a set of scales out of tiger iron for my pocket knife. It turned out really nice, but I left the knife in my pants pocket and it didn't survive the wash/spin cycle. Yes, we had words about checking pockets before washing. If that talk went the same way mine did you will no longer be leaving anything in your pockets! Right? I'm sorry, but I'm laughing so hard, maybe even crying. Only because of the same issue is going on here. Maybe your wife is doing my Landry too. My Blackbrry in very clean, my wallet, there is not enough room to tell you what has been cleaned in the washer. No kids yet...but you never know. LOL Been there, done that.

It's old and I think it's cool but also it practical. My neighbor gave it to me. Pics below. 1910 very old. eBay has one that's a .1917 pat. Pending Put the black tip on the center of a turning shaft and press in toward the shaft. It counts the turns. You just have to keep the time. 10 seconds-20 secs. Or a minute . And you figure the the RPM. Primitive but it works. And it's cool.

That is big. Mine was half that size. But I thought it was the size of a bowling ball.

I will ask, what rpm is the motor and also the size, HP? Thinking about making something like that.

Glad your back. Well, I passed one stone about a month ago and... No fun at all and you did 3. And mine was so small you can't tumble it or do anything but hurts like hell. Again, glad your back and always...always do what the doc. Said. That care Dale

Well, I know one thing for sure. Don't look in Ohio. I looked at many old post in RTH and someone from my area loked around streams and fields and only found one. He is no longer a member. Of course it was years ago, but still don't waste your time. Find a different state. LOL

E330 sounds good. Don't know anything about it.. Who makes it? Where can you buy it? I would like to try it. Everybody has fractured rocks.

Ok, you have your answer but also not all epoxy glues are water proof. Used to make fishing lures and if your clear coat was epoxy after being in the water it turned a milky color and was not as durable.

Thank you all. This has little to do with me: it's just a response to the spirit of the board. Many of you selflessly contribute on so many levels. Picking up rocks is a trans-generational joy. This little site gives yet asks for nothing. In my mind that reaches perfect human interaction. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Colin Wrong, lots to do with you. You are a good man, never forget that. And I got the rocks today and they rock also. thank you very much. dale
