With the amount of folks involved I don't quite understand jumping to the conclusion that it's cancelled because of Scott who may or may not already be back posting soon My very thoughts about Scott. He may be back under the disguise of a "New Member". Lynn

mickmarg - Awesome carving! I love the 3D Mobius woven look. What's your process for carving? Can you show pictures of your setup? Lynn

beefjello - That Dino Bone round with reds/yellows is awesome. Probably worth several hundred $. Just stabilize it & face polish. Lynn

I second that. I haven't stood in line at the Post Office in years. And did he mention a discount! Lynn

LED lights use less juice, run cooler & are very cheap. You can get variations of white - warm, cool, daylight, etc. There are lots of sources. I've bought LEDs from eBay (shipped from China) & made various lighting devices. If you have a TAP Plastics store or similar, they have lots of types of frosted plastic. Most larger towns have some sort of plastics store. Lynn

Tommy, That's beautiful stuff. Most Burro Creek I've seen has been pretty average. This blows it out of the water! Now, I've got to go there & collect. Lynn

Does plaster of Paris dissolve in water? I'm assuming you're cutting with water, right? Or is cutting quick enough for that not to be a problem? Lynn

I'm with Tommy. If I can't turn it into cabs, I'm not interested in it. Lynn

@hookedonrocks - You've been posting lots of great Franciscan jaspers. Keep it up. We like it. Are you finding this in the Gilroy/Morgan Hill area?
I found some similar yellow/orange jasper, but no reds, in the city of San Francisco & across the Bay at Coyote Hills Park just at the end of the Dumbarton Bridge.
Mine had similar colors, but way more fractured than this cabber wants. Lynn

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! Rockoonz - You are a genius. Yes, there were 2 set screws. I removed the second one, slid the collar towards the rear of the saw & pulled the feed screw out through the front. Then I rotated the carriage assembly counter clockwise and slid the crossfeed screw out the right side. Drain the oil? Clean the saw? Yeah, I guess I should be nice to my saw. It's been a long time since it got a good cleaning. There's a place where the plexiglas top is separating, so I'll get it all cleaned of oil & re-glue it. I hope this thread helps anyone else who needs to disassemble their Highland Park slab saw. Thanks again for a second set of eyes & another brain. Lynn

Rockoonz I already removed that setscrew. The collar isn't budging. Lynn

The cross feed screw on my HP 14" M-5 slab saw has some munched threads, causing sloppy cuts closest to the vise, so I need to remove & replace it. In this post I mention crossfeed screw & feed screw. They are 2 different things. The crossfeed screw moves the vise side-to-side. The feed screw moves the vise front-to-back. The crossfeed screw is too long to slide out without hitting the sides of the box. I was hoping I could get it out without removing the entire rail assembly. Notice the 3 bolts circled. I hoped that I could remove the 3 bolts and pivot the assembly so the crossfeed screw can be slid out. The trouble is that the feed screw is attached through the rail mount & won't let me pivot the assembly. So, can I remove the feed screw without removing the entire feed assembly? I removed the set screw holding the collar on the feed screw, hoping that the collar would slide toward the rear & allow the screw to slide out the front. The collar wouldn't move. I'm reluctant to put any force into it before knowing if it is supposed to slide back. Is anyone familiar enough with this design to tell me how to get the feed screw out? Or am I stuck with removing the entire carriage assembly? TIA Lynn

Here's a slab of Fancy jasper from India that I cut a few years ago. I love the range of colors & the "waves", similar to your photo #3 letitridek . It even has some agate fortifications. Lynn

I've had this chunk of chalcedony with quartz crystals in my garage for a few years. I decide to play musical avatars & use it instead of my Zar logo. I think I found this at Holt Canyon many years ago. Lynn
