I contacted Ken - minerken and had him make me 3 dop handles. I use nails from Home Depot that have a .27" shaft, so he made them to fit my nails. These 3 are the same, I just insert the nail partially or completely to get the different lengths. I've cut the nails down to 2 1/8". Haven't used them yet, but I like the feel in the hand so far. Happy Birthday jamesp. I saw Joe Satriani in Salt Lake a few weeks ago. He's the same age as us. He looks great for a 61 year old guy. I feel pretty great. How are you feeling, young man? Lynn

I used the services of a typesetter in Provo, UT back in '81 or '82 by that name. Funny, because I needed type for my card game - Zar. Us Z guys stick together! Lynn

Is a preform OK instead of a slab? I've trimmed down lots of my slabs to preform shape waiting for me to finish the cabs. Lynn

#1 Indian Blanket jasper from Utah, actually an opalite, but we call it jasper #3 Fancy Jasper from India - Bloodstone is a variation of this -when it's full green background with red spots. Lynn

Wowza! I talked to Aaron at Qz, but was already done spending money. I guess I need to look closer next time. I'll be buying some slabs or eggs. Lynn

rockjunquie - That Wingate is superb. Nice wrap job too, simple & doesn't compete with the stone, it just frames it. Lynn

If there are 2 locations, there are probably more. Google Earth shows a few diggings close to one of the Brenda agate locations. Next year I plan to try some spots where I see diggings. Lynn Note to self: Follow Lynn next year. How about: Give Lynn a ride in Dave's high clearance vehicle because Lynn only brought the wife's van! Lynn

melhill1659 Thanks for posting a zillion pix. I recognize Chrissy's awesome Brenda fortification agate and the opal from that site. Next year, more of the same, but better! Lynn

Looking forward to seeing you again next year zarguy Lynn! If nothing else, we'll hit Brenda. Glad to hear it's only 6 hours for you. It's 6 hours for me if I go the weekend of 1/1 - holiday traffic going home. Next year I'm only going during pow wow week, but will take more days. OK. Next year's Pow Wow is only about 11 1/2 months away. It'll be here in no time! Lynn

This was the first time I went on hounding trips. I usually just go to buy rocks & meet people at Tony's pot luck. I will definitely go on hounding trips in the future. Brenda, we'll see you in 2019!
I've also decided to make Qz an annual thing. Even though it's a 6 hour drive, it's worth it. I skipped 2017 and skipped 2012 after my first Qz experience in 2011.
Living in a place that gets snow, I need a little bit of warmth in January, even if just for a long weekend. Lynn

The Tubes opened for Led Zepplin at Kezar Stadium in San Francisco June 1973, my very first concert. Nobody had heard of them before & didn't know what to think of them. Lynn

I shape cabs on my 60 grit sintered wheel, fine tune them on the 220 grit plated wheel then put them in the Loto vibe tumbler with 220 grit. From there, just follow the usual grits and times. Lynn

Tommy, I went with the QIA club on Sunday to collect Brenda agate. We went to what used to be their claim, but they no longer have any claims. I'm not sure if the place we went on Friday was one of their old ones or not. Lynn So the group went somewhere elsewhere from where we went? Was it in the same general area? When we left Perry Ln we did a 90 degree left turn, as opposed to the more than 90 degree turn that we made on Fri. It is a bit south of Friday's location. Lynn
