Tommy, I went with the QIA club on Sunday to collect Brenda agate. We went to what used to be their claim, but they no longer have any claims. I'm not sure if the place we went on Friday was one of their old ones or not. Lynn

rockpickerforever - Jean if I send you a kmz (Google Earth) file of where I think that photo was taken, can you confirm it? I've been flying over the planet via GE trying to identify where we went. I went on Friday with RTHers to a Brenda agate site & found some pretty good material. Then on Sunday I went with the local Qz club to another Brenda agate site, but it was disappointing compared to Friday's location. Of course with 25 vehicles, it sure gets picked over. BTW, the club no longer has the claim. They've let it lapse. They've gotten out of the business of holding claims. At least that's what Gary, our guide told me. I didn't catch his last name, but he has a house in Qz & spends summers in Oregon. Lynn

Tommy , please give Eva a special thanks from me for taking pics of the rock hunts. Eva, you are wonderful!
And for those of you that have seen the fish fossil in Brenda agate that I found a few years ago, let it be known that I found it right here -
Right underneath where Charley is standing! This was a very productive area for nice colorful agate.
Tommy, did you ever make it to the Q club's agate claim out there? Jean, how do you know this is the same location? The desert looks the same in lots of spots. This pic is a place we stopped on the way to the Brenda agate that was supposed to have some jasper. We didn't find much of anything here. Once we got to the Brenda red agate site, we DID find good material. Lynn

OK, for the culturally clueless, tell me how this relates to a slab of jasper? I would has responded: a foolproof plan and an airtight alibi, real simulated Indian jewelry, a Gucci shoetree Lynn The title of this thread is "What do you want from life". Conan the Barbarian and I have similar values. To show my age, it's a song by the Tubes from 1973 or 4. Lynn

socalagatehound You had me at Brecciated Burrow Creek. Then I read words like orbicular. Then I was overtaken by plumes. And then I blacked out. What a rush! I've never seen Sonoran Plume, or at least not like your pix. I'll keep my eyes out for it next show. I'm a plume addict. You bought the same kind of stuff I seek & rarely find in such abundance. (within my budget) Of course, I AM also a cheap bast...bastion of thrift! Is there such a thing? You have a lot of wonderful cabs in your future. Please keep us in mind & post pix of them. You DO cab, right? Lynn Lynn, I agree often prices are high for high end goods. I have been changing my tune lately. Partly because jeannie doesn't know what prices used to be she buys based on her own ideals. Does she like it? Can she make nice cabs? Due to this, I have decided to value the end goods first to feel for a fair price of the slab. So far it seems to me, if the stuff is nice the slab should cost about one fifth of the total of all cab value. One fourth for really super nice goods. I know longer care what a slab costs as long as it can be profitable. Food for thought. What say you? Theoretical cab prices are one thing. I need a customer with cash. I only sell cabs sometimes. Mostly I or my wife sets the cab in sterling or beads. Past experience tells me what the markets I sell in are willing to spend. I've been trying to have a few killer pieces at higher prices to see if the person who has to have the most expensive item in the booth will open their wallet. Lynn

herchenx - John, I can't see photos. This is in Firefox in Windows 7 & Chrome browser on Android tablet. I saw photos from earlier today in your Kentucky agate post. Did you post them in a different way? Lynn

OK, my turn. Not alot of photos, but I hope you'll get an idea of what we saw. I bought some Blue Lace agate from this pile. It was $7 a lb, but he gave it to me for $5. I's from Malawi, not Namibia, like the stuff we've been seeing for years. Bright blues, and thicker layers in the banding compared to Namibian material. I went for pieces with druzy pockets & hollows. Going to make some nice cabs! Lynn
