Here's a pic of my wrap-around water spreaders.
These take 4 pieces of karate belt. I glue them together with contact cement (I use Weldwood brand, but there are others).
I use a temporary rubber cement (Borden's in the brown bottle) to glue them to the inside of the lip on the hood. You could also use screws. I've seen people add a cut-up soda can to make them bendable for best contact against the wheel.
The center part touches the face of the expando drum & spreads the water to the width of the wheel & minimizes the lapidary shower experience.
I have to replace them every 2 or 3 years. Lynn

Welcome to RTH. I don't think a tumbler sold at Target is a serious machine. Check out the tumblers avail at the Rock Shed - www.therockshed.com/Best Prices & great service. Lynn

I use Karate belts I buy at the thrift store. For wide wheels such as the expandos, I glue two pieces together. Lynn

If you stack 2 cinder blocks, watch out for the "Leaning Tower of Lot-O". Or the "Falling Tower of Lot-O". Lynn Nah. Then again, I don't know if you're being facetious or not. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) For me, there are no instability problems at all - at least with only two blocks. Only time I would worry about mine toppling over is if there was a big enough earthquake here. Then again, if the earthquake was big enough to knock my Lot-O over, I'll have far bigger things in the home to worry about. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Faceitous? Who Me? Ha! Lynn

I had that Harbor Freight 10" tile saw. It was a good saw. No problems. I bought it used, used it for a while & then flipped it. I found that I wasn't using it much & needed to make room in my garage. Lynn

I would go with a 10" tile saw. 6 or 7" is OK, but you'll want something bigger right away. Check out that $300 Harbor Freight saw link above.
Try Facebook sale groups. There are usually several in each town. The groups have names such as Your Town Garage sale, Deals, Blog, etc. I'm in a pretty small town & there are several selling groups to choose from. Right now there are several tile saws listed in my town, & a couple more 50 miles away. Good luck! Lynn

Tables that fold in half and open to 6' x 30" are about $40 at Walmart. If you're going to do this show every year, maybe invest in one. Lynn

It also looks like some Holt Canyon agate/jasper from Utah. I'd show a photo, but it would take a year to locate the piece. Lynn

Welcome to RTH. I could relate to almost everything you described. I got hooked at the age of 8 in Yellowstone. Now it's a "few" years later, & lapidary is a big part of my life. Lynn

hnhstngs Harlan, It was a fun weekend of hounding. I'm glad you got to explore our wonderful collecting sites. I've been collecting the Cedar City agate for 12 years. Haven't tired of it! You had better directions than me to the Obsidian site north of Milford. Sometimes it takes a dedicated out-of-towner to find the good stuff. We appreciated you taking my wife & me out to dinner. See you next time you're our here. Lynn

jmac The thread mentions 3 brands. There's lots of good suggestions here. Read the entire thread. I bought from Lapidary Tools (Hans). There are links above. Lynn

I use them for grits starting at 280. I use diamond belts on the drums & I rediamond them when they wear out. Many people still use silicon carbide belts instead of diamond because they can cost as little as $2 each. The cheapest place I found them is Santa Fe Jewelry Supply.
It's crazy how much the diamond ones cost, even though synthetic diamonds are cheap to make. When I rediamond them, I put 10-1t5 carats on an 8" belt. That costs me $3-4. A 6" x 1.5" belt would require lots less diamond powder. Lynn

Looks like Fancy jasper from India. It's closely related to Bloodstone, only a different mix of colors. Lynn
