Wow, you have some great pieces in there! Morrisonite is my absolute #1 favorite.

Beautiful slabs. Will you keep them that way or cut cabs? Might keep one or two as slices, the rest will get cabbed or sold eventually. I especially like the idea of making a cab out of the pieces that have plumes.

You were given the right information on direction of egg to blade... I cut 100's of eggs in my 14" , but the 10" works great too... I use a 1x4 wood wedge (2) with my thundereggs, instead of a clamp.. Never had an egg slip yet... Enjoy! I can't quite picture this.

A few weeks ago I bought some chunks and endcuts of this. After seeing your beauties I'm going to hide mine in the closet. Al Well, get in there and see what you find!

They are amazing. What are you going to do with the slices? Really big pattern. I'm going to find someone to polish them for me, then they will be display pieces. It does have a couple of pits, etc, that need to be filled in so I'll have to figure out how to fix that first.

Yeah these are already as long as they can be in this particular vice.

Yeah, my only wish is that the grabbing bolts/screws were just a tiny bit longer. We have already been talking about maybe trying to find a machinist that could make an integrated vice like that. I know that those aren't at all common so it's very unlikely the next saw we get will have one. And there most definitely will be a next saw, lol. We have been talking about getting covers for the open belts. The guy the refurbed this one for us did quite a bit of mods and the covers no longer fit. We are kicking around different ideas, but in the meantime being super careful.

amygdule ...well...maybe. Lol. I posted a picture of one of the slabs and it sparked a lot of questions about the saw itself. Follow up pictures didn't narrow anything down. Some stated it had a hood like a Royal but the sled/vise/bottom wasn't. The label says Belmont which was apparently a Rock and Gem company out of Portland back during the rockhounding heyday. No one can remember if they built their own or just sold saws.

Last slice for today. I'm not sure if all the ellipses are just played out or if I need to orient the chunk differently. I've taken it out of the saw for the time being so I can think about it a bit more.

I'm ok with the fractures being visible, just wanted to see if there was a way to keep the slice intact in one piece.
I'll do a little more dinking around and see what I can find out. Thanks for the responses.

I have a friend that fell in love with this condor agate of mine. I would like to take a couple of slices from it, one to make some jewelry from and one to maybe put on a nightlight for a Yule present for her. With all the cracks in it, I'm afraid once cut it will just fall into pieces. Is this something that can be stabilized before cutting and if so, how would I go about it?

That's a really pretty ring and I think it works quite well with the stone.
How did you set the bezel without bending it? I would think that each of the little cuts would be similar to turning the bezel into a series of prongs (for lack of better word..I need more coffee) that would in turn bend very easily.

Also, here is the other item I worked on this weekend. I've had this piece of moonstone for about 15 years (maybe 20!).
