guys can confirm...this is 80 90 percent local material....i know it like the back of my hand...it is not from mexico or anywhere else...this material came from our local creeks or river...i know areas where savannah material can be found that the average collector would not even have a clue to look.
i know this gentleman well...he has looked over stalling island...and arrested trespassers attempting to collect illegally.
he retired from the military as a game warden...and then retired again as a game warden.
i see no reason that he would not let me bring these points to my campsite...anyone going to graves mountain is more than welcome to swing by and scope them out.
as i said...can confirm...local material...and as i see it...kinda hard to find civil war stuff...and ebay stuff on the same creek...kev.

nope james...he is finding them...he is also pulling pottery shards...what at least what i call shards...maybe 2 x 4 inches...he will not let me photograph them..
the points that he gave me a few weeks back...as far as i am concerned are milky quartz...that is laying all around clarks hill...but yet was pulled from the same creek bank...i know a lot about stuff around clarks hill lake...i live there every weekend and for weeks at a time during spring..summer..and fall.
it was the black ones that kinda threw me off also...thats why i said i can confirm 80 percent of material was local savannah stuff.
he is a retired game warden...huge plus for him...i will not name the creek...but it may be easy to figure out...the problem with the creek is that most all of the property along it is privatly owned...and as you may know...you just dont trespass in the backwoods.
anyway can confirm legit...kev.

my comp is so old not sure how the vid works...i cant play it. but i also machined this all old school...cut all radi by hand...did not even use the feed on the lathe...when i say all by hand...it is. it is 3" in diameter large end...14" long solid bronze...cannon is probably 35 lbs. i made it for my shop owners friend...it shook the dust out of the rafters thru the shop when fired...same as the first one i made . disclaimer...i did not make a weapon...i made a replica...fuse hole stopped just short of bore...cannon was taken off site...someone finished the fuse hole on there own...i just test fired it after it was brought back to me ...kev.

gonna throw a few things out here...right or wrong....just me and rotary stuff. will start next of batch flourite in rotary in 120....in using 3lb barrels. will go at 33 rpm for rough. next stage...will be at about 14 rpm...using dimmer switch. after rough stage...there is no burnish stage....i have not used a burnish stage except for agates and jaspers that may have small flaws that may need it....i wash these so grit dont move on of coarse. flourite flaws will be seen and culled out....those crevices should be seen after rough. every stage afterward....i soak shammys in the next stage grit....mixed up in a bowl...so they are completly soaked and loaded to go...maybe those little fellows slide of of those shammys . gotta go football folks here...later...kev.
