I work outside. My rocks are everywhere, but my saw is on a table on the open patio (covered with junk), my flat lap is used on a table on the patio (after I clean enough rocks off the table to make room for it). My rotary tumblers are on a table in an area next to the patio, which is covered with a large tarp (stuff that doesn't fit in the garage or on the patio). All work done with these machines is outside. But, hey, this is SoCal, not having to worry about snow, lol. No, absolutely not, I do not hoard rocks!
Only my little vibe tumbler (don't even remember the name of it, I'm so bad) gets preferential treatment, it gets to run inside the garage. (Quietness has its benefits!)
Does opening the big garage door count as being outside? Hey the garage is almost like being outside, heated in the Summer and cooled in the Winter!!! I open that big garage door next to the cab machine and it feels like outside. On the afternoons when its above 80 degrees and I'm standing in the sun it feels like outside! And then there are the cold windy days in January! I'm so glad winter is short! We are considering moving the saws outside to lessen the "game trail" and oil mist issues.

Good to know, but the main reason for wanting the flat disk is size. Some T-eggs are simply too big for the spacing of Genie wheels. Yeah, the large surface area is why a dome is really useful. Lets you work across the whole surface without rounding your edges or catching an edge and gouging the surface of the lap. Helps prevent flying rocks, too. Thank you for explaining!

Thanks mohs . The process makes the gluing easier than it looks! The frame pieces start out longer and thicker than the centerpiece, so the messiness gets ground away.

Hi Taylor's I read that comment about gluing your fingers are you using super glue for the joints? Yes, super glue for the framing joints. Epoxy for the back piece. I had forgotten that regular super glue is sooo thin! Next bottle will be the gel type!

It definitely takes a while to learn the right amount of pressure and the correct angles to produce the shape that you want. You are off to a great start! Can't wait to see your progress especially after those pads come in!!
