Thank you both so much! This really helps a lot. Now I just have to tune up my cabbing machine and my flat lap so I will be ready to get at it.

Hi all, It has been over a year since I touched all my cabbing equipment (or logged in) but it is time to get back to it. I have some opal that is very thin. once I find the fire, which won't take much, I want to either use Girasol opal for top and bottom or some clear quartz. What do you use for a binder adhesive that won't yellow? Do I take the opal to a higher polish or does it matter when using a binder so maybe just find the fire? I have never done this and I know people that I used to see on the board had, so please, attach threads or let me know what you use so I can try to make this work.
Thanks!

I have had groves cut in these stones for well over a year and finally got the time to get them finished. I think I will change out the jump rings on the earrings for a smaller size but other than that, I think they look OK. Chrysopraise: Amethyst Sage that is really mostly Sage: Thanks for looking, Fran

Wow Randy, I really think you could make anything shine! Fabulous job on all of them. I really need to get back to the wheels but now with Pneumonia, it will be a little longer. Your work sure does inspire me to get better quick!

I have been enjoying all of the beautiful work you have all done! I rarely log in anymore but check in about weekly just to see what you are all doing and it is all fantastic! I recently lost my dad and while in Arkansas, my cousins daughter (12) asked if I could make jewelry out of a few little items my dad had gotten her when they went to swap meets or yard sales. Nothing expensive, just that they meant something to her. A tumbled stone and a piece of glass marble, I flattened the backs and just did glue on bails but one item was difficult. I wasn't sure if it was plastic, fiber optics or glass. It was a thick heart rounded on both sides so wire wrapping was really the only way I could do it. The wire I used was very hard and took a bit of work so even though it is not to your caliber, I think she will be happy with it. Found a couple little glass hearts to kind of match and made earrings out of them. I finally made a set out of rhodocrosite (maybe rhodonite...) I cabbed for her so thought I would post them, if I can remember how... Fiber optic heart? Tumbled stone I re polished on my geni Glass marble halved and re polished Set I cut
group Thanks for looking Fran

I have been working on a few items but it is so hot in the garage, I have limited time out there after work.I have these ready to remove from the nails so I can polish the backs: This first one is a moss agate that looks like it has an E in it. My oldest son really liked it so I have cabbed it for him. I had thought this rough was peridot but once I started grinding it, I realized it was too soft and is moonstone with a green tint. Lots of shimmer but in the pictures, it makes it look like it has cracks. It does not. This last set is Sodalite with a white streak and some Mica possibly in the dark areas. Not as easy to work as I had hoped but turned out OK. Uneven hardnesses in this rough. Didn't have much time today to really enjoy the latest posts so I will have to catch up tomorrow. Thanks for looking! Fran
