Well, I finally remembered to take a picture of some of the cabs I finished today before I put them in settings. The lapis has 6x8mm earring cabs and the necklace cab is 18x13mm. the rhodonite are 8x10mm earring cabs and the necklace is just a bit over the 18x13mm size. The lapis is for my granddaughters birthday. She is turning 5 and will be getting her ears pierced. The rhodonite set is for my youngest cousin's daughter (first cousin once removed???) She is 11 and loves pink! the rhodonite is actually darker than the picture. It got washed out.

You know, that looks like a metacinnabar I have somewhere around here that I got from someone in Arizona. Looks like a soft jasper with the red smears and spots throughout. If it is the same material, remember to wear protection when working it since that red is from mercury staining. If I remember correctly, it worked up really nicely.

That first one almost looks like corpolite...not saying anything is wrong with it, just the look reminds me of the stuff Just amazing how they come from the same areas but look so different at times. Fran

Very pretty! I only have the lavender but I love it! It takes a very light hand on the wheels because it is so soft. Deep scratches appear if you press too hard and are really hard to get out because the stone can disappear on you.

Good morning, It has been a while since I have posted anything. These cabs are nearly finished and this is how they look after the 3000 wheel. Will take them to the polishing pads next to get a really nice shine. I try to make necklaces for my sons and husband each Christmas. I think this will end up being this years if they polish up as well as I expect. This picture was taken inside by the window and it is really cloudy today so not as bright as i would like. Thanks for looking! Fran

Really cool cab. see all kinds of faces in it. I would have to agree with Mel. Looks like some kind of rhyolite.

Bobby,
I just don't know how you get such large cabs so perfect! I was having fits with belt buckles and it took a great deal of time to get them completed. Great job as usual!

I am not patient enough to attempt things like this. It is all I can do to finish regular shaped cabs.
Great job and look forward to seeing the completed works of art.
