Hey Brian, excellent cabs. I'm glad I decided to pop in, I haven't seen much from you lately.

Wow, you've gotten very good at both the cabs and the photos. I remember when you were here last year and didn't know an agate from an obsidian! I told you it was a slippery slope! Congrats on becoming so good so fast!

Nice work Tony. They're right, it's rutilated quartz. The Arizona agate is choice!

Nice cabs Ronda. It's getting pretty hard to find the good old OJ, most of the stuff on ebay is the newer stuff with a lot of vugs and crap. And when you do find some nice pieces, they go for sky high prices. The dendritic opal is sweet!

Thanks everyone. I have one more set of cabs to post, but the WWR cabs will have to wait. I had to replace a bearing on my machine, so it will be down while I clean it up and replace a wheel, but it will live to cab again!!!!

Nice job Randy. And you actually got a decent pic of the rainbow obsidian, and that's no easy task!

You have more guts than I do! Those look great for your first ones, and I'm sure they will be better with time. It's like anything else, practice, practice.......

No reason to be hesitant, these are some awesome examples of how to compose the scene on the face of a cab. You did an excellent job with some excellent material.

I haven't been posting much lately, so here's some catching up on what I've been cutting. I don't think I've posted these, but if some are reruns, bear with me. Chrysoprase Mugglestone. This is what it looks like when you cut parallel to the bands. A few Rhodocrosite Red Horn Coral Arizona Plume Labradorite Some OJ Lagunas Condor Fordite Green aventurine Indonesian agate Noreena Yellow Plume Flame agate There will probably be a bunch of Woodward ranch coming up soon, I hope you don't get tired of them.

Your cabs look great Amber, frustrations are part of the learning curve. If the top of the dome isn't rounded, you'll never get the scratches out. This will become less of a problem with more experience. I don't use a loupe or dry off my cabs during the different stages. I use my finger to feel the dome of the cab, and, if I feel any flat spots, I know I need to spend more time removing the flats. Hang in there, you're doing great.

Nice work Tony. The flame agate is awesome and don't worry about the obsidian, there's no way to take a good photo.

Cutting a girdle is a must for both bezel setting and wrapping. But more important, is the slight bevel of the girdle and the rounding of the back edge for bezel setting, something I do on all my cabs now.
