Hi Tammy: Sorry that took so long ... had shoulder surgery which has put me out of action for a bit and I was finally able to get back to doing some slabbing. There's more on the way, that was just what I could cut on short notice. By the way, on the right hand side of the photo, middle slab. I'd swear that the rock is petrified wood but I might be way off. Anyway, I've got a weekend free coming up so be on the lookout for more! Thanks Paul

I think that's one of the reasons Texas does so well. Our state legislators are only part timers and have real jobs in the political off season. I figure if they work only part time, they can't do nearly as much damage as full timers....Mel That's interesting, Mel. I didn't know that they were part-time jobs. I like that idea. When I was working at the local level, the two cities I worked for only allowed part-time elected positions. I recall that the councilmen made about $2.25 an hour! The flip side for us is that, since they were all part-time, we had to work late so that meetings could be scheduled after they were done with their day jobs. Often meant that we were in the office from about 7:30 AM to about 10:30 PM two to three nights a week. None the less, I did respect them for putting in the additional hours with us. They looked at it as a privilege to serve and took their responsibilities seriously.

Anyway. North Cady's. North Cady's. North Cady's. Lowell Make sure you chant that while sitting Lotus style. Closing your eyes helps too...

Jim... not getting the reference to brownie or blackie. Does the 'brownie' refer to Nazi Sturm Abteilung, or 'brown shirts', and the 'blackie' refer to the SS, who were known as the 'blackshirts', or did you mean baked goods containing chocolate:)? LOL ... I, for one, would be up for any baked goods containing chocolates! Whooo hooo!

Everyone deserves a day off now and then and I'm certainly not going to deny that to Kerry (or even Obama). I just have a problem with the culture of lying that seems to pervade this administration. And other administrations.

Honda's got one running around already (http://automobiles.honda.com/fcx-clarity/). A local has one and I see her driving it around. Absolutely beautiful car. Had it not been for the three year lease-only option (as this is a limited test run with the car, primarily in the SoCal market), I might has considered this as my next vehicle.

No Mel, not hypocrisy ... Chicago-style politics. Semantic gesture on my part. Chicago machine-style politics was a case study that I had to go through during my master's program. Eye opening and it really doesn't surprise me to see this President operate in this manner.
I like that comment, Toad ... Lie first, then, if caught ... (nothing happens). See Benghazi for additional references.

The comments on this article from the readership were pretty interesting and informational. The wildlife biologist apparently understood what the eco-nazi's didn't. Thanks for adding to the thread.

While I'm not totally in agreement with this individual's post, he does bring up a few good points. I have no particular opinion on this matter as I've not done enough research at this point. I do find hard-core environmentalists irritating, though. I will make that much of a provocative statement. knoxville.craigslist.org/pol/3746100243.htmlSee for yourself. Paul

@ Don - Not sure about the 30 year ROI on solar panels although you might be referring to multi-million dollar commercial installations. That's similar to nuclear power plants. My solar panels will achieve their ROI break-even point in seven more years. Right now, my electrical costs are pacing at about $5 per month. Interesting idea but I do find it interesting that environmentalists want to cover land in this manner. I'm sure there's some endangered bug or animal that could derail his projects Thanks Paul
