How deep does the copper go? After reading the article, it sounded like it only fills the surface cracks and pits that had developed. Can you see the copper on both sides of the pieces? Curious. All the way through. The pieces are noticeably heavy. Chuck That is really amazing stuff. Bringing beauty out of rubble.

So I went into a shop to show them some of my work to see if they wanted to put some on consignment. They said we don't do consignment, but they bought everything I brought in to show them. Later in the week my wife asked where a certain ring I had made was. I told her I sold it to XYZ shop. She teared up and told me she was wearing it when our daughter was born. DUH Can't fix that. Vic Of course you could. Go buy it back! Damn Scott, now its his TWO biggest regrets!

I had tried to respond yesterday, but my work computer froze and I lost my post. So fingers crossed it will work this time.
First I'm no expert, I have exactly 1 weeks experience when I went to William Holland school this year. I will echo what Tela said about metal prep. Take the time to get the scratches out as you go. Once you've put your bail on, it makes it much more difficult to clean up the piece. The next suggestion is on your second piece. I really like the ball you added to the bottom, but I would have cut the back plate to attach the ball to rather than bring the bail piece all the way down. With that, I worry that the pendant may lean one way or the other when worn.
And then to echo what tiovO said about sitting the cabs higher/ bail lower. I think that will come once you refine your cabbing with smithing in mind vs wrapping.
All in all, a really nice 1st and 2nd piece. Something to really be proud of!

I think the first one looks great, especially being your first attempt. Really nothing to add from what I could see (better pictures would help). I couldn't see the second one at all. Not sure why.

Love the idea! Get's me thinking! X2! Great concept that has a lot of possibilities, not only for the cabs but for the settings as well. Thank you for sharing. Loving your work!

I was digging in one side of an area during a rare open dig at the famous North America Emerald Mine. Terry was digging about 4 feet in front of me. We both started hitting pocket material, mostly quartz crystals. Her side ended up with 40+ carats of emeralds and I got to watch.
Truthfully, it was amazing to watch, but I wouldn't have minded a little green.

Had never seen the Mad River agate until this past week on RTH. That is some amazing stone.
Whatcha going to do with all those multiples? One BA trilobite makes sense, but that is a whole gaggle...no murder...no flock...what do you call that many trilobites anyway?
Smokeys from Arkansas? Irradiated?

I had read a little bit about him yesterday. Talk about having the ability to question authority. We would be in a totally different world if they had someone in that position that couldn't think for themselves.
