i meant to say core drill for the blank yes two right angles drill points. Single cup to rough out is 80%-90% of the drilled blank. then 50%-60% of diameter of blank as you work 80 grit mud on blank. as the sphere starts to true to a sphere. switch to cups any type of machine 2 or 3 cup finish with 25% - 50% cups to the diameter of stone.
Paul made sphere cutting easy. It IS. Buy the tools and enjoy life. Looking back in time is a dead ended memory.
Don't buy junk.

www.ohiopowertool.com/m-231-diamond-core-drills-core-bore-weka.aspx# Nice Core drill is Cheaper then a old HighLand-Park saw. 16" - 24" prices. / Milwaukee motors last. I have yet too smoke one. Not sure though a Ridgid 535 pipe threader motors run close to the same RPM. under $3500.00 plus drill bits. They make a great single cup Sphere cutting for roughing out blanks. Paul, in Lapidary Shop Help mag. From print - 1964. Paul made over 2000 spheres with a single cup grinder. His son built a stand for the some of the spheres using Leaf springs from old cars.

When i use vibra lap, i fill geodes with ivory soap. place soap bar in cooking bag for hot water. melt bar tell soft, work the soap too the corner of the bag cut corner squeeze soap into the void. scrape with flat draw plate.
every black rock i cut 1/2 bar or so to fill with soap, or great sliver moss the last one.
each phase of lapping just wash out mud, and refill.
Ivory soap & King soap flake's, Are the only ones I've found to melt and cool back to firm bar mass in void.
Tommy that is a great cut. first glance i thought it was a Dugway UT. geode.

And for the few that need center cuts on Ammonite's or coconuts, thunder eggs, anything round.
Milk cartoon plus plaster of Paris, on center cuts, think about where blade cut is and plaster block in vise side for large vise point to clap to.
My favorite is too fill a wax coated one gallon milk cartoon / or Sq. thoughts in head ! ( yes their plastics jugs ) Wax coated or oiled wood box. cooking oil. Too release the plaster pure. add 4" of mud plus 4" of 2"-3" ( Size does matter ) using a 24" blade Tracking through the cut. pure more mud rock too the top. let heat / then tell cool.
Then add OLD HighLand-Park 24" saw. too the block.

i see your not using the brass rod under the vise. The rod holds the vise true Sq. to the blade. best replacement is welding brass rod. i have the E-10 highland-park cab unit, its a 1955. the rod was worn flat. keeps the vise out of loose rock chips on deck of drain pan. And less ware on blade, from vise walking back forth. Speed feed on trim saws for any thing thicker then 1/2" 8-10 minutes to the inch. I find the notch blades (301) or (297 ) last longer.

For the vibra-sonic belt replacement, Only use the yellow clear belt / O-ring looking belts. Use a flat shoe lace too pull the belt over the motor pulleys on each end of the shaft. One thing the unit is turn over. others have tried to use o-rings / they don't last!

MIKE, The brand name? you forgot? Brazilian.
The Sodaville agate was dug next door to Polly's digs. Rock hill rd. & oldsodaville rd.
The old stage coach on oldsodaville rd. had a newer ranch home built over the rock foundation, Carols B. place. South side of Polly's yard. a 3000 Lb. med. - dark carnelian agate with a quartz center. was dug up. Next to ditch / drainage Ken white, dug to drain the lower pastor into Pine Cr.
Ken has known me longer then i have. next to the ditch i dug a huge hole down about 6 ft. ( foot in photo 14 D. ) Me i'm 5' 18''. Dad lived on site. The hole turned into a huge ring with island in center. around the barn an many piles of all colors came from the area. radius of agate is under the cascades out to the con. shelf.
Iron content for color. blood red very rare. Though up on Chandler Mt. where the sedimentation is high in hematite.
best to know, about this material is its Translucence. when polished looks like glass.
down the road 12 miles is Holly Blue / Calapooia purple. I'm thankful mom drop me on rock in Lebanon,Oregon Thanks Mount Ida AR. thanks Stanley Family. We all have great rock hunting to find material. My Oregon back yard is the best...........
