to much water and grit in with the stone. less then a OZ. of water in 10 lb. size barrel or larger.
I use a VSV-45 vibra tumbler. i load the barrel spray the rocks while barrel is running. wet rocks a light coating.
Add about 2 table spoons of grit. ( i only use 220 grit or finer in the vibra tumbler. Rotary tumbles i use for the coarse of rough cut run. ( I add broken silica grinding whee3l chucks in the load, for the filler and longer life of fast cutting. the tumbler i use, i run 50 - 70 lbs. in a rotary running 16 RPM.
The heat add fiction of the dryer paste cuts the rock faster. after a hour or so. spray a coat of water on rocks.
Ears know when to add water.
Use less ceramics in load.
Space for rocks of all sizes.
consider using a rotary for the roughing down the stones.
sort out the load in rotary, For the vibra tumbler.
I run fire agates in a rotary, then sort the load for carving or on too the vibe-tumber for polish run.
As for the barrels mine are $220.00 apiece for vsv-45.
Smile they wont get cheaper. Rotary's cut down on ware, on the vibra tumblers.

Collect enough, and you could make your own exposed aggregate/pebble concrete paths ( or pavers). Just tamp them into the wet poured and leveled concrete surface, allow to partially set, then broom off the cement to expose your colorful rocks. You can do the same thing with unwanted slabs, endcuts, etc. spray coat of sugar water to expose the stones. after tapping them into the cement. wash off the next day. signed mason

foreman, Hp. matters! 1/4 or better. I use a industrial flex cable, for grinding molded casting parts. Though its very old, i use it on a 1750 1/2 Hp. motor.
a bench or floor mount drill press is nice to use. bench mount bolt down.
I use 1/4 shake diamond burrs. as for the coolant - water in bowl, or drip tube down shaft to stone an bet.
I use silica 80 grit - 220 grit wheel for roughing. Diamond only on finish.
and then the tumbler with garnets an 220 grit run for light polish to help in zoning the material for the next grind.

Looks like chalcedony to me. Mineralogists tell us the difference between chalcedony and agate is that agate is banded and chal. is not. As for color, the only real test is in natural light with a neutral background. It's hard to judge from your images. geode or seam agate / chalcedony - all the same material. the word banded agate, bands form inward to center, as dos seam agate from two directions. Both have the same formation. You may need micro eyes to see. where you find the iris. in the field of bands. Good example is Holley blue agate seam or geode, Holley blue jelly cant see the bands, Though you know their there. Because its a Sedimentation formation.... Add a little dirty iron and you can see each of the formation rings inward. Pillow basalt most often, is the home port of all agate chalcedony formation. Then the grind too end up down flow to agatize Petrified wood & fossils , Chert - Jasper's.

How long after the lava cooled did the crystal start forming on the material that is soaking in silicate rich ash bed.
Same is for petrified wood. long soak for to silica to encapsulate the wood, to start agatize the material.

Pillow basalt below water table, with a high content of calcium carbonate in solution From all living sea life an mollusc calm bone waste an so on. flowing into the gas pockets in the pillow basalt gas pockets below sea level. give or take a few million Bp. years. As the plate is uplifted out of salt water to high Silica water . then agate starts to cap over the Calcium carbonate crystals in the gas pockets. As you seen in Brazilian agate pillow basalt agate. same much larger forms of calcite crystals. In Oregon carnelian agate. Lebanon,Oregon Home town to ME. Calcite footprint roots away leaving a cast in the carnelian agate.
Great material on Oldsodaville Rd. & Rockhill Rd.

Mastodon, have wider plate between crown points on the back molars. Now i only know the local Oregonians. Mammoth have closer crown points on the top.
Though the elephant teeth change do to feed & and what there is to be found.
Oregon last cave record is about 4700 Bp. time.
And they have 7 rows of new teeth in the gum line waiting to to replace the worn out ones, from grinding hard feed.
