By the way, Sheri and Dee, I'll send you your Burro Creek trip bags as soon as I have time to work on them. I need your addy Dee too. To anyone else there who didn't get a collecting bag and wants one, let me know. I have lots of cloth still and can make more! Steve

hey beef! Yes, that is me on the right in Jamie's photo. I wound up leaving Saturday afternoon to get back for a meeting on Sunday, & I also have bad night vision, so I wanted to go while there was still daylight. I wish I could have stayed longer & met everyone, but I had to go. The other lady in the picture is my friend Barbara who came to meet me from L.A. She also had to leave on Saturday because she had things to do on Sunday too. Everyone that we met was really nice - a great bunch of people! I mostly spend my time with my buddy though, as we don't get to see each other very often. The first night there we kept everyone up with our giggling & people thought we had a small Chihuahua in our tent because of the noise we were making! Anyway, I'm sorry I missed meeting you & everyone else, hopefully we'll meet another time soon. Patti

Wow that sure was a FUN trip! I just got back last night about 11:00, since I stayed down in Laughlin for the Rally this last weekend, although the drive down was only about 650 miles, by the time I drove the rally course twice (once to set up arrows and banner off side roads, then again as lead car on the event) I logged a little over 2,000 miles on the old subie by the time I got home last night.
The rth meet was everything I expected and more, it was so great to put faces and personalities to the names and words I only knew through the message board, and man what a fantastic collecting location! Its great to see that some of the elusive purple stuff was found too!
Our campground host James got dragged out to man a road blockage for the rally on Friday, I don't know quite what he was expecting but I have to imagine he got a kick out of seeing these fire-belching turbo-charged monsters blasting by at 70+ mph on those tight, twisty and rough desert roads.
it will take a couple of days for stuff to shake down for me, but I'll post some more pictures soon.....

Ha ha! Yeah, I got to look on a map and see where the dead cow spot was. Maybe Brian remembers. I'm going to look for Patti, but I think it's just up the road from where Pup and everyone was looking. Man, if AZ wasn't such a drive for me I'd be back there this weekend, with another stop up at that amazing burro creek area. Man that trip was a blast.
Rally, sounds like you had just as much fun after the trip in your car as you did on the trip. I can just imagine you tearing around the desert but keeping a watchful eye for agates ;D. Steve

Yeah its kind of funny, I'll pull up to a start control a few minutes before schedule, check in with everyone to make sure they are ready then start scanning the ground and grabbing a piece here and there to stick in my pockets, before I launch out on my way to the next control...

( even had one who swore she had a film of the "Phoenix lights" that I didn't get to see but did capture this little guy landing ! ) then after a little whispering I saw him get right on the wheels and saw ! he also found the "youngest & the oldest " in the group ! --------Thanks, everyone for the memories!! ;D------------

OMG SNOWDOG!!! LOL.. First off.. let me say " it's about time!" and did you have to post the pic of me secretly whispering to the green guy??? ... I mean that's not really me.. that's my stunt double.. my evil clone.. Cuz I don't normally look like that.. I just sorta morph into that rock creature.. I'm really 29 , 5'11 and only weigh 120 lol .. Oh hey , it's a shame about that tape tho..... who's to say it was for a reason you didn't get to see it? I mean.. You want proof... and you want the truth right? .... well what if you can't handle the truth huh? lol.. besides couldn't take the risk of CIA showing up or those men in black and ruining the entire rock trip with their little flashy light thingy's , now could I? .. lol Besides you got enough rare footage caught on film with the pics you have right there.. ;D .. lol.. so smile and be happy Snowdog Dave.. Readya later.. ;D Roxy

Steve, I tried to find you and felt terrible about it when you didn't get out with us that day! Which makes it even better that you found this great site. Like you, I just wish I could go back next weekend.

Hey, I would go back next weekend!
Sad to report, my FRBs were in my living room for a few days, but I just moved them (unopened!!) to my storage shed with the rest of my rock stuff. I guess I can look forward to the thril of opening them up down the road when I get set up again, but that is small compensation.

Glad you made it back snowdog! Those pictures are great! I didn't even see that little guy doing all that. Ed, watch out, there's a new master cabber trying to move in! He may be short and have a funny hat but he looks at home in front of that machine!
Pup, what kind of stuff did you find that day? I am pretty sure you were just up the road, and I imagine it's the same stuff, minus the dead cow. Steve

Steve, some seems to be jasper throughout, other has surface color but is white inside -- it was a pretty weird day with everybody rejecting agate. There were a lot of thin pieces like the jasper layer eroded out of whatever. I cut across one piece and it has really pretty color/pattern. It's in my cut photos from the weekend. Another one Stoner broke off the end at the campground and it was beautiful -- he kept the piece to cab. I sliced it the other day and of course it is REALLY pretty sliced as opposed to broken. That big brown rock with the yellow specks inside looks pretty cool but it is so huge it will be a while till I can figure out how to get deeper into it. Evidently we were further in that you were, since you said you didn't ford the creek.

I would like to thank Jamie , Tony , and all the rest of the kind, generous and thoughtful people that were involved in putting together the great box of Agate I found sitting on my front portch when I got home from a really nasty day in the blacksmith shop. That box was so full that when I spotted it just before I pulled into the drive, It looked like a big blue marshmallow someone left there. It was actually ROUNDED ! The wife spotted the blue and white Breciated appearing one and made the statement, that's the first one in the saw !!!
You guys are the greatest !!!!!

I saw lots of folks working on boxes but Tony/Catmandew went above and beyond. He was the box dynamo.

Harley, that must have been one of the boxes Tony packed! They were packed tight! The man sure knows pack a FRB. Roxy, Jeff''s back in good ol Calgary. I got a PM from him recently. I too am looking forward to those photos. I bet he got some great shots. Steve BTW, here's one I forgot to post earlier. This was what our front door looked like the Friday after I got back. They all came at once! 485 pounds of agate-ey fun!
