I'll bring camp chairs (no butt suckers!). The pop-up has a small attachable BBQ grill - I think it's propane, a two burner stove top, and a small fridge. I think it's smaller than a dorm fridge, but it might be the same size. No freezer, though. I'll also bring at least one large cooler, possibly two. I'll also load up a couple extra sleeping bags. The pop-up does have bedding (sheets, quilts) normally stored in it, but I'll double-check before heading down. Food - I know the group evening meal worked out well the first trip. We all kinda scrounged the other two meals, but we also were in and out during the day. Do you think Dorothy wants to play camp cook?

I got some really really bad news guys.. The other half of the party that was going to come and split the difference of the cost will not be going... which is making it almost impossible for me to go alone with just me and my two little ones.... I mean the drive alone is one thing.... I figured out the hours on the road. is over a 14 hr drive from where I am to there.. that's being real considering how fast I drive.. and still then there is the cost per night in a tent .. along with rocks.. and gas.. and well.. I just don't think I'll be able to go .. I've tried to find a alternitive way to make it .. but I'm afraid I have to kick myself in the ass for counting my eggs before they hatched .. cuz now I feel like a dork because I have to back out on this trip too.. that sucks.... but I just can't afford it right now.. the cost of getting my window replaced alone is a yank on my chain.. and play money just isn't there like it used to be.. who ever thought a hobby of rocks would turn out to be SO :serious: EXPENSIVE! ... maybe I can try playing with bugs.. or sand.. or back to collecting men.. ;)they seem to come cheap.. ;D LOL just kidding guys.. I did talk to someone about Still going on a RTH Rock Trip.. but maybe someplace closer? .. Roxy

Dang... I was hoping to meet you in person Roxy... I had some interesting things to talk about with you around the camp fire. I've discovered a few more things since we last talked. Well... I'll put together a box of WWR rocks for you. If you can't make it to the Ranch then I'll send a little bit of the Ranch to you. Dan

Sounds like the Hardcore Celtic Rockhound Crew will be the only ones there for the entire week...
Personally, I can't wait to see all of you again.

Hey George,
You could stay in Alpine, but it's more fun with everyone being together and heading out to the various collecting areas. The evenings when we all gather around tend to be fun. If all else you can get a tent there in Alpine. Looking forward to meeting you.

Hey turnedstone, come to the ranch. I know you will not be staying in your truck. We can come up with many good things. Some of us have tents and blow up beds. We also have blankets to share. Please come on to the hard core Celtic Rockhound Crew trip. Don and I would love to meet you. We are very laid back and move to the rock vibes and freindship. All you have to do is bring some Guinness stout. Don and Dorothy

Dan, I plan on cooking one dinner for all of us. Maybe two. As far as breakfast and lunch everyone is on their own. that does not mean we all can't pitch in and make a breakfast or a lunch together. No one should be the solo cook. If we bring bacon and eggs and any thing else we will deal with keeping things on ice. Just bring what you can. We can always go to Alpine. Don and Dorothy

I have bigger pictures of the cab here : www.digforcrystals.com/agate.html You'll note that under the WDWD ranch section there is some pictures of the Ritchie Ranch . Anyone who visits alpine should really do themselves a favor and check out the RR . On my first trip there I hit a seam that yielded 249 of great agate . On my last trip there a month ago , Teri Smith ( the guide ) told us their was a 200 pound boulder on the surface that some flint knappers had dug up . They left it becuase it was not good for making arrowheads ( or at least that is what they thought ) . Since I had been to the Tucson show to set up in the main show , I didnt have much in the way of tools with me . So there was no way to break up the boulder without a big sledgehammer . I did dig in the vein or seam that was still there and quickly got a hundred pounds or so , in the form of 3 boulders a little or 30 pounds each . At the Ritchie , you pay $5 cover charge and then pay 75 CENTS per pound. This is a great deal folks ! There is also a link to contact the RR on the same link above .

Hi Folks,
I know your trip is getting close so I want to wish you all happy hunting! It truly sounds like you will all have a great time and instead of going that way, my husband and I will be heading towards Boston for part of that time and also entertaining my youngest home from college and his "not" girlfriend. I look forward to the trip reports and pics of all the great things you find. Have Fun!!! Fran

My best wishes to all of the current WR blitzers. I'm certain you will have nothing but praise for the experience. Fellowship, food, beer and great rocks. Who could ask for anything more. Have at it. One of the original "Blitzers"
