I think this thread is one of my favorites. I started it shortly after joining the forum...and knew absolutely NOTHING about rocks. I feel like I've learned a few things in the last couple years, so I get a chuckle reading through the first half of this thread.

I'm with you on the Prairie Agates. I get SO enamored with some of the material from around the world...but I've got some pretty dang amazing finds just down the street!!
