Ok Cookie3rocks - I'm listening. So I surmise........... A *****redneck***** is the term used to describe a (not sure about male or female) person :- a) I am thick - and I like being thick - so eff off. b) I can sell you some drugs, and if you dont pay up you are fooooooked. c) I am a lost cause because I watched dad beat on mom - and thats my excuse for being like this. Do *rednecks* come "regional" though Cookie3rocks? I.E. Are all rednecks from "New York" or "Miami" where all the dealers in drugs etc. are? And you can beat on mom in an 18 buck motel? I get the impression that true redneck culture is based outside of these locations, like rednecks are not in cities but are like mountain men and such. Dont forget that as I havent been over there yet all I see is whats on TV!!!!!! Be it a film or a documentary etc. I reckon "redneck" is a naughty dude who wants to "brawl" in a bar after a few beers and what not. Just my thinking - thanks for the explanation cookie3rocks. I'm probably totally and utterly wrong though as always. - You "pilgrims" and all!!!!!" Andy.

Over here we have
"scousers", "mancunians", "southerners", "northerners""brummies" etc.
What exactly is a "redneck" in terms of the US?
Is it like a "roadhouse dude" who goes out and swiggs a bottle and lands a punchup?
I get the impression that a redneck is a "tough" ass.
Over here, the things we label people with are location related - IE a "scouser" is from liverpool, whereas a "brummie" is from the midlands or birmingham.
A "redneck" however - sounds like its not area related, more like "I can be a redneck nomatter where I'm from."
I think shania (sp) twain for example is a "redneck" - "a person with some attitude".... in her case in the showbiz front.
For the record - I'm a "northerner".

Following on from the other post, this is probably a fair place for it to reside now. Summary :- Anyone who is interested in distributed computing technologies for the purpose of research and study, may like to visit :- www.grid.orgThey don't induldge in anything untowards - like spyware or adware etc. .............. Have a read, check it out, in your own time, no flames pls (especially across boards - eeeek), if its your thing - have fun with it - if not just keep on tumbling - (actually we can do the latter either way ). All is quiet in the western front - all is smoooooooth. "cooool breeeeze ... birds and treeeees" ;D (SEGA Rally Championship - classic game if anyone ever won the rally - thats what it says at the end.) Catch you laters. Andy

Ok,
How about this - a board to talk about things like politics, or - like the case of some thread or other - a place to continue the debate?
This way - I dont get seen as a "moderator" - as I **hate** that - and things can get sorted out in a section separate to the actual "Rocks" sections.
Sound smooth?
Andy.

I change my water every time I change the grit - at 80 thats every 4 days with a well balanced range of stone sizes in the barrel - and longer (say 10 days) if the rocks are all large and theres less off them,
I do this because I like to see ALL of them and how they are coming along. As time progresses - often i remove a couple of stones which have had enough at 80 - and let the rest continue.

"Slugged up" When you open an 80 and the 80 hasnt broke down yet. Even after a week - your smaller fragments are stuck in the bottom of the barrel. Youre all "slugged up" surely?

Breaking rocks on your driveway.
Ok - I have a concrete drive which is a bit messy but none the less its still my drive.
When I hammer rocks to get them in the barrel I use my drive as a floor.
Theres a problem - as once im done with the hammer the drive has a mark on it - this mark is called...
"The man who lacks a lump of steel dent".
Cos if I could get hold of a lump of steel to break my rocks on I wouldnt have a dent in my drive.
I try to use the same spot but there will be a crater eventually there and that makes it harder top break rocks so I have to move on to a flatter part of the drive.

Term = "Ground Out" Applies to a barrel thats done its time at 80 grit ands about to crack and let all my slurry out. That barrel is all "ground out". Ive got one close to it now - two more weeks at 80 and its definately going to be totally "ground out" - maybe - "Dug out?" - I dunno - like when something has been ground out from the inside. And a new barrel is 5 squids and they dont last long enough. Ok - heres one - "Ground hogged" A term used to describe a barrel thats done its time - weve all seen that (if not I need to change my barrel manufacturer" ) Like - ok - my barrels "ground hogged". Its a prob Im having at the mo as Im going heavy on the 80 Its like "ground hogged day" the film. There goes another barrel - been there seen it done it. I put my weak barrel - the one that will split soon - away from the motor on the drives.
