Beautiful pics of your trip. Your Grandson has an odd sense of humor. I like that. ;D Then it appears you went to rock heaven. Thanks for the look.

My entry is Rumanishte Serenade. (Rumanian serenade) My late father was Rumanian and this is a word he used. I am spelling it phonetically, so I apologize if I have butchered this word. Dave's other half

The Valley Springs is my fav but you did an excellent job on the coral. It's tough with the different hardness.

I feel for ya Ed and mine were not quite that big. After they break them up it is still going to feel like you are passing broken glass but after they are through the feeling is better than any sex you have ever had.

Your third pic of the Agatized material looks like Petrified Reed to me. Not positive but it looks like a slab that was cut across the grain to get the eyes.

Hello Blue Eyes and welcome. First throw away those instructions unless the contain a parts list. Second, what kind of tumbler do you have? Vibratory or rotary? The usage is very different. I suspect rotary. My recipe is 60/90 until happy with shape. Recharge every 10 days. 2 weeks 120/220 2 weeks 500 2 weeks 100 2 weeks A/O polish (Rock Shed) Borax wash in between each stage for a few hours to a day(depending if I get busy) Three days borax burnish after polish. I get a really good shine. A picture of some quartz you could see. Dave.

There is no possible way I would or even could cut that beautiful piece and I am sure whoever polised it would have a heart attack if you did. My opinion.

I did a piece of Tigers eye that went almost 2" Just the one piece with the other smaller pieces. Throw in the real small pieces too. If you whack them with a hammer throw in the little shards. Those little guy really help carry the grit.

I have never heard of it let known try it but it sounds like a good idea to me. I use 500 for the "fine" stage and since I run mine in 2 week stages I think the 400/800 might be better prep work for the next stage. My line of thinking is the less work the next stage has to do to remove the scratches the better. I want my rocks to shine a bit before polish that way I know I will get a mirror shine. May I ask where you got the 400/800? I would like to try a batch with it. Dave

I'm not sure what it is either but I sure like it. That Raven looks kinda ominous to me. Very cool!
