Cool fish. Nice find! That is why I like cutting Thunder Eggs. You never know and the anticipation is most of the fun.

Do you ever get a bad tumble? No, I didn't think so. I have seen that material sold as "Black Feather Plume" and it was from Wyoming.

Don't forget JD Weld on that list.
Indigoace. Forget the manual. I bought mine new and I found the manual useless. Forget about the tools that come with it I think they were made of recycled paper clips.

Thanks everyone. I especially like the Ref. To Lord of the Rings. Fires of Mordor, I did not see it. Read the set 3 times (including The Hobbit) and have the 3 LOR set on DVD AND replicas of Sting, Arwens Sword and Gandalfs hanging in my living room. ;D ;D ;D

In my opinion Arkansan is right on. The Sunstone should take on a great shine with her advise.

Interesting question. I am thinking probably not as I think it would leave scratches to deep to be taken out by a 50,000 polish but if you are are willing to experiment on a small batch I sure would be happy to hear and see the results. ;D

This probably will not be much help but try Sears and look at vacumn cleaner belts. While you are there hit the parts dept. and tell them the size of the belt. They might be able to match it up with a belt from another product. Just a thought

Welcome to the board! You do not say what kind of stones. Beach stones maybe? Anyway, I do not think the bearings will do much of anything unless the stones are really soft. You will probably need to get some Silicon Carbide grit. Refer to the 4 step process on the home page and you will definitly be on your way to shiny rocks. Most of all have fun.

Without the rotarys rolling in my home it sounds very odd and I do not like it.

Toss them around parks where the children play. The sand under the swings is great. The kid start digging around when someone finds one. Of course keep the best for display in your home. A couple of weeks ago I had jury duty. I brought a few pounds with me and put a few of them on the main walk way between the two buildings about every 1/2 hour. Adults get excited about finding shiny stones too. At lunch time a large group (mostly women) came out and were looking very closely to see if there were more. Made me smile real big. Word had gotten around.

I would say if you can see grit suspended in the slurry you are good to go. Put the lid on, watch for bulging (as said) And let her roll.

Beautiful work. Simply stunning! I hope you share pics of the Amber tree when it is finished. It just seem so "right" to do one with Amber leaves.

MrP, Cutter thanks that was the same conclusion I got to. Alternative energy good but cost prohibitive. As far as wind maybe back up the wind drivin turbines with magnetic power. Just a thought. Jim, Very true about no friction except for space dust but there is constant gravity in a confined system such as the Sol system. Planets spinning, Meteorite storms spinning through it, Comets so there is constant gravity pull on the craft. It is not large but adjustments have to be made and when there is nothing to "push against" with lets say chemical thrusters, a lot of some kind of fuel I think would be needed. Deep space I believe would be different. I am not a Rocket Scientest so I may be way of base Dave.
