I can't even remember what I got on eBay yesterday. Would have to log in to find out. Don't care enough to look.
OLD (quality) OJ is gettin' really hard to find. Nice score!

Heading back to Cocoa tomorrow. Round 3 Already over 20k worth of rocks from there. When I hit 25k I get to the 50% off level. Thinkin' tomorrow is gonna be a shit load more dino bone and no tellin' what else. Seller has told me that they are ready to part with some things I expressed an interest in but they wouldn't sell before. We shall see. Never collected dino bone before. Had a bit, but these trips over there ought to take care of striking that off my "I need that" list. I hit 50% off rate (given) and maybe I can afford to buy some more of the overpriced spheres they have. Mother in Law coming in tomorrow night for God knows how long, maybe I'll just spend the week over there. Isn't the Daytona 500 this weekend? Never been to that race, probably a target rich environment! Note to self: pack tooth brush

Can't forget to add shipping - unless you get it for free! Paying 40 bucks for a 10 pound rock = 4 bucks a pound, but if shipping is $15, the rock is now $5.50 a pound.

Why you doing all this in your house instead of out in that big ol' studio/warehouse barn sized building you built? Seems a room with a view might be nicer than being cooped up in the basement. All that kiln stuff safe to use inside a house? Guess it's not much different than an oven? Any fumes from what you do?

Off topic: I collect local 100 year old picture and advertising postcards. Recently bought one for $0.42 with free shipping. Will cost the seller more to mail it than I paid for it. There are deals to be had if you have the time to look for them. Or if you are there at the right time. I reckon I spend a couple hours in the course of a day doing eBay searches. I bought a 15 lb tumbler barrel (barrel only) a couple days ago for $45 with free shipping. Due here tomorrow. www.ebay.com/itm/15lb-tumbler-barrel/323069692014?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649Not like I needed it, but a new one is twice that not counting shipping (Rock Shed price) Figure it's gonna cost the seller most of what I paid just to ship it Priority Mail.

thinkin' ... I have NEVER tried this, so just an idea at this point. Wondering if that spray stuff used to fill gaps & cracks would work. This stuff - Might be a b*t¢h to get off the rock though. ETA: unless there is something that dissolves it - like acetone or mineral spirits. dunno ...

How hot does the kiln get? Can ya put metal in there?
Thinking about those old time cast iron corn bread / muffin pans. Lots of different designs & shapes available. Might not make something conducive for glass cabs or pendents, but may end up with some pretty cool end products - like jamesonite paper weights.

Roger, I sure hope that you will reconsider or at least make it a VERY SHORT break from here if you feel it is necessary. Don't let some out of line noob on your sphere thread run ya off! You were totally friendly and helpful in your answer(s) to him. I, and many others here, have enjoyed your recent spheres and cabs before that for a long time now. Your talent working with rocks is truly amazing. Please don't deprive us of seeing your creations!

I think that would be a LOT of motor for that purpose amylou . You can probably find an existing machine to do the job for much less than the cost of just that motor alone. Maybe keep an eye out on eBay or your local craigslist ads. Welcome to the forum by the way!

Just saw this. Oh my what a dynamite chunk of palm root! Outstanding display specimen.
I'd grind the nub left from the saw off and face polish it leaving it whole. That really is a killer piece!
