Can you Make An Offer for something on ETSY?
I see an Ask A Question button. Do people make (accept) offers there? Is that common?
ETA: is there a way to see how long something has been listed?

Antique toilet: to display coprolites, of course I had a toilet in my living room back when I was single. Spray painted it with some kinda faux granite paint. Had plants in the bowl and up top in the tank. Picked up an old wooden seat for it at a junk yard. It was pretty darn cool and chicks dug it! "to display coprolites, of course" - I see what you did there!

You can add a photo attachment now using this forum. Add Attachment button up top of the Create Post box.
Photos have to be a certain size (or less) though to do so - I believe.
May have to resize you photo using some program such as IrfanView.
Sure someone else here could explain it better as I don't use that option.
oh, and welcome to the forum! Hope to see your picture soon.

ETA Facebook? What's that? I think it's a place where many people that don't have a life pretend that they have one.

An hour to put on a polish? Wow, that's much faster than I thought. Does running longer help or even make a difference?

Along these unique storage/display lines, I always keep an eye out for old ("cool") gumball machines to put tumbled rocks in. Haven't found the right one - at a reasonable price - yet, but I will.

Gut an old school television cabinet, add lights inside top. Thought about that several years ago for putting a fish tank inside. That would be pretty neat.

oooooohhh.... antique bathtub. That might be better outside than the canoe! I like that. Thanks Pat May be a bit large for on the porch, but it is a stellar idea. Have to go look at them.

*snicker* That might be cool in a kid's room, but it would be pretty gay on my back porch. Right concept though, lots of visible storage in a small area. ETA: gotta be able to hold a LOT of weight!

Awhile back I picked up a Radio Flyer wagon to put some of my small agatized coral pieces in to display them. Looking for something new to do the same with a bunch of dino bone. Something else kinda off the wall / unique. Can maybe take up the same floor space as the wagon. Needs to be almost that big anyway to have the surface area, don't want to put it all in something too much smaller and simply bury most of what is in there. Thought about a canoe, but that's too big. May still run with that idea some some other type of rock and use it outside. Would have to drill holes in the bottom so rain water could drain out. Keeping it from filling with leaves would be a challenge. Figure on hitting the local thrift/antique stores and see if I just run across something. "Cool" factor is gonna have to be up there if I want to get away with having this out on the back porch. The wagon raised her eyebrows when I got it, but was accepted once filled. Any unusual ideas for something that might fit the bill?

Nice! I would have thought more weight.
Do you have another of these without the carpet that you use with grit to remove saw marks?

Glenn lives in Palmer, which is north east of Anchorage. If there was damage that far from Kodiak I imagine we would have heard more on the news.

Nice batch of tumbles. Excellent photos too! Thanks Randy. The rose quartz and rutilated were from some rough my older son (18) got me for Christmas. He gave me some bahia agates and blue lace agates too. The plan is to tumble it all and give him them back to him. So he buys you rocks for Christmas and you are supposed to work on them for months then give them back to him. That's a pretty smart kid to have figured out how to make that work! Nice seeing your Turritella as I plan to run some. Now I know it's doable.

I recently came across something that laid out sphere size and weight correlations.
Like a 5" sphere is around 5 pounds but a 6" sphere is around 10 pounds. Huge difference.
One might think that a 5" sphere is merely one inch larger than a 4" sphere, but it is really an amazing difference. What I was reading showed just how much, in mass, an inch difference in diameter makes. Gave weights for spheres of MANY sizes.
Granted, different types of rock may vary some in weight given the same volume, but this was close enough. NOT looking for some mathematical formula.
Can't find what I was reading. Anyone have a clue where I might have seen this?

OK, no new pics from Bob. Wife unit must have found all the new rocks and Bob can't play with the rocks cause he's been grounded. If it were my wife and I brought all them rocks home, I'd be trying to pry them out of my arse along with her cowboy boot.....Mel LOL She has known about the rocks. They are all over the back porch! Be tough to hide this much rock. It was the lapidary equipment I bought a week or two back that got stashed away before she got home! Just had other stuff going on so didn't get to rocks today. Not sure there is much more exciting to photograph. Bought more Teepee & Dryhead. Some more of that Stromatolite from Wyoming and Turritella. But ya'll have already seen that stuff. Sure there are some other types out there, just don't recall what all. Kinda tired of taking pictures. Ya done seen the best stuff. until after my 3rd trip over there ...

Haha! I'd be glad to be of service, but the postage bill is starting to add up on these traveling cabs. All the cabs, there can't be that many, would fit in a small flat rate box. Thinking it's the responsibility of the creators to mail their cab to Tommy, or where ever they go first. Maybe, if you really want to do the photos, they can be mailed to you? Photographer mails them to the judge. First person receiving them has to keep the secret of what cab is from whom. After they all come in, they all ship together. What does a small flat rate box cost to mail - like 7 bucks? Extra for insurance? Funds for mailing could come out of the forum funds. God knows that with these RTH benefit auctions going on all the time that excess funds exist. Each contest would cost like 15 (20 w/ extra insurance) bucks to do the mailing once the cabs are all mailed in. Do maybe 4 contests a year = the winning bid of an RTH benefit auction or two. just sayin'
