I've never had gas build up in my barrels. People seem to talk about it a lot, but I've never experienced. Guess I'm no help, huh? Chuck

I'm there in spirit! We'll get as close as the Petrified Forest outside of Holbrook. I joked with my wife that we should take a detour down that way. I don't think she was amused.

You can find pics of the palm bog I found at Stillwell in the specimens section.
Sorry to hear about Marfa. :-(
Needle Peak would be awesome. Love pom pom agate.

I also immediately thought of grit consumption. You're fortunate to have that supply!

Yeah, there are also people in Georgia who collect civil war artifacts in Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park and sell them. They go at night to avoid detection. The big prize is belt buckles, I guess.

Laughing at Don's posts.
How about a swivel mount that allows the wearer to adjust them? I really do think it depends on the wearer. Some people have ears that stick out, some lay flat against the head, and everything in between.

I use Chrome or Firefox. Haven't used Internet Exploder for years.

Good point Jeri: I really wish I had brought a scrub brush with me to clean the rough.

Yes, several people have started with just a Dremel, but you'll soon want a dedicated machine. At the very least you'll need a trim saw (perhaps a tile saw), an expanding drum, and a polishing disc.

Don't forget about the cost of grit to feed it...

Yeah, pitted rough sometimes just exposes more pits as you grind. Either live with the pits or move on to solid material.
Lakers usually just have surface pits, but you lose a lot of rock trying to grind them away.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but I'm a happy customer of rocklady1 for hard diamond wheels.

Ouch, I remember pulling thorn after thorn out of her Crocs. Jeri and I both performed surgery on my daughter's foot and either a piece of the thorn broke off or something else was going on, because it irritated her for days. My hiking boots never let me down.
I'd recommend loose fitting pants, too. The thorns/stickers don't seem to go or stick to them as much as with jeans.
Shape is definitely key to finding biscuits. I'm envious of the guy who made the video, as he seems to be finding them left and right, although I'm certainly grateful to Jeri and Spike for putting us in an area with a lot of biscuits.
I wish I had more vacation time; I'd be there!

My set up is just like Hub's. I don't worry about contamination because the specific gravity of diamond is 3.52, meaning it will sink to the bottom of the bucket and is not likely to be picked up by the pump. I do have my pump raised off the bottom of the bucket to keep it out of the muck.

You're right about the high grading. All the low grade stuff is in the ditch behind the camp site at Stillwell.

The cactus was named Spikelina. No relation to Spike! That's a bummer about the missing bag of rocks! I don't have them. Sorry to hear about Nan. She didn't look like she was in the best of health when we were there. Somebody with a truck might want to see if Stillwell Ranch will part with the 2 saws that are sitting unused out back. If I remember, one is an HP in the 24" range (maybe 18"), and the other is an LS12. My memory is a little fuzzy, though. Chuck
