I tried to come up with something nice for my sister's birthday. She is July so that is ruby. I had gotten a slab of ruby in zoisite from Maryann a while back so I decided to try that. It is a beautiful material and my picture does not do it justice! The material kept wanting to do it's own thing so the ovals are not quite oval as I would like them. I decided it was perfect for my sister because she is a little stubborn as well so it is a good match. I didn't get a picture of the finished set but here are the cabs, what you can see of them with the glare... She said she loves them so I am happy. Fran

Hi All, Finally am back to Microsoft operating system so I can work with photo's again. I had Ubunto for a while and I really liked it; virtually no viruses! Only problem, I could not get a photo program to work easily with it. Now I am back to having to be careful again but at least I can post pictures! Here goes: Had some problems this time with hairline fractures that caused breakage. I will have to redraw and take back to the saw. Cut a little rose quartz off a larger piece so I can cab them. Also a piece of druzy flint I received from Chris. Broke my heart that this bumblebee broke in half. Will have to go back to the drawing board with them! Some very dark amethyst sage but the pattern is still pretty. Lots of Owyhee and amethyst Thanks for looking! Fran

Hi all! I can't believe how many new folks are on here now! I have been going through posts all morning and there is no way I can comment on them because there are so many but suffice it to say, I have enjoyed looking at all the new work! Lots going on but the same old story. David and I work for the same company. Sold a few years ago to a very large company that is not in the same industry we are in. Then they acquired a larger company in a similar but not the same industry and had us move in with them. Now they are trying to realign all of us and they are chopping as they go without understanding our business. The long and the short of it is that we are half the size we were when this all began and they are cutting people and the cuts are not good ones. We heard rumor that my husband would be on the next list of layoffs so he has found another job and is waiting for his clearance to be transferred and then will give his 2 weeks. The next round of layoffs will be in August from what rumor says and so far, all rumors have been accurate. Hope I can hang on! Well, on to better things; I have a garden this summer that is killing me! Between weeds, bugs and having to keep up with harvesting everything, I have no time! I spent all of yesterday preparing tomatoes for sauce and I will can it today. Dehydrated potatoes I dug all of yesterday as well. Have to work on blanching and freezing squash today. In between all of this, I have only made a few cabs for gifts and cut a bunch of preforms that I will have to post. My husband had to get another car for his new job (we loved that we could carpool before but now in 2 different directions as soon as the new job starts) and I made the comment that I didn't want his personal plate on the car I would use and he ordered me this: Once I saw that, I realized I couldn't stay away any longer. I asked my husband and he said yes, they did have torpedoes in WWII on their carriers. They also had ones that they put on their planes. (My husband did 25 years in the Navy) Fran

I saw a slab similar to this one years ago but I cannot recall where they said they found the egg. I would have bought it but it was in someone else's hands...rats! I do remember they said they found it so I wouldn't think it was outside this continent. Fran

Sometimes I enjoy cutting slabs more than actually completing cabs! The sore hands and fingers go with it though. Looks like you are doing great! Fran
