IT is the cycle of this hobby....People get busy living.. At times rocks take a backseat...Rock sections get quiet....And those that are here try to fill the lull with things that They find enjoyable. Other hobbies ,things in their lives they want to share with the friends they have on here..It is like a family...They have their sections they enjoy ... .As has been mentioned ,no one is forcing anyone to read the posts that are non rock related threads...Just give it time and the forum will lean more back on the rocks...Remember it is just the cycle...JOhn John, you have a good point.I know I have football season, working my fall garden, among visiting grandkids that are scattered around the country.Dont even have any tumblers turning or rock saws going now. Will crank em up maybe November or December, then get active again. Now,just checking in for pm's and reading a few posts. snuffy

I would recommend you use the member block function if you don't want to see these posts. I did and it makes it so much more enjoyable coming on here. You can easily pick out the ones you want to block and their posts will not be displayed.

Armadillos were around when I was a kid,but a population explosion occurred. My dad had a Farmall C tractor with the front wheels on a single stem. After breaking several off by hitting unseen armadillo holes,we declared war on them. One 2 week Christmas vacation,I'd go out and kill 6-8 a day.Vultures stayed on our place around a waterhole,no reason to search far.

You guys are awesome. Snuffy you got it right! They invaded your area then left? or died out? That's wierd. Gotta get that dog food for the dogster. Scott, dont really know why they disappeared.Just glad they did.We don't have any swampy areas around, mainly the stock ponds, and they ate the aquatic plants in them.We had beavers move in a few years ago, never had them before, they are in the larger stock ponds.Beavers, fire ants,Africanized bees, wild hogs, had none of these as a kid snuffy

Looks like a nutria.Over 45 years ago,a wave of nutria came through our area, digging holes in stock tank dams, causing them to break.Could see families of them crossing the pastures going from pond to pond. After a few years, they disappeared, havnt seen any since.Dang nuisance.I hear there are a few in Louisiana.

snuffy, it's not a beaver. Doesn't bucky imply beaver? Beaver came to mind when I looked at it first.just noticed the teeth. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
